Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news

  Weather news: It appears that the ground hog’s predication of an early spring were wrong as we have been  subject to very cold temperatures  wind chills  and blizzard like conditions the past few days and the forecast is for more of the same later this week.
ST John’s/Kongsvinger News: There will be joint services on February 24th at St J @ 11 am with the Sunday school kids singing.
 Lenten services will again alternate between   Kongsvinger (February 27th) and St John’s (mar 6th) until March 20th @ 7 pm. There will be coffee and fellowship afterwards .The cash offering will be divided between the local Salvation Army and Evangelical Lutheran Church of America God’s global barnyard

Good Shepherd news: Lenten services will continue every Wednesday @ 7 pm until March 20th, there will be a prepared supper at 6 pm this year instead of a potluck.

The baptismal service for Freddy Hanson will be held at 2 pm on February 24th at St John’s starbuck.

The Northwestern choir and orchestra will be in performance at the Alexandria Convent church (404 Dakota ave.) in Alexandria on Mar 7th @ 7 pm. Matthew Hagestuen is a member of that choir. His parents
Dale and Janet Hagestuen are members of Good Shepherd

World day of prayer at first Lutheran on March 1st
The postponed VFW Auxiliary Valentine Party has been rescheduled for 2 P.M. Thursday the 28th of February at Old # 1 South Side.

Ida Mae Lawson of Meridian, Idaho, passed away on Feb 12. She was preceded in death by her brother Ed Madison and her sister Irene gulbrandson.
Dennis Stahn of Donnelly passed away on Feb 17th.  Survivors include his brothers; Art and Kermit and their families he was preceded in death by his parents K.K. and Agatha (Schwarzrock) Stahn

Chandler Erickson – Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta Boys Basketball was recently named KMRS player of the game. He was also named a student of the quarter at Chokio-Alberta high school and was named to the A honor roll in the 12th grade there
Nicole Gillespie was named to dean’s list at Minnesota State -Mankato her sister Brooke was named to the 8th grade A honor roll at Chokio Alberta
Dona Greiner was one of those  from the Stevens county sheriff’s department receiving an Award of Excellence ~ Community Resilience Award at 48th Annual Governor's Homeland Security and Emergency Management Conference. 
Samantha Larson was named to the grade 12 A honor roll at Herman Norcross high school, Landon (12) and Levin ((8) were named to the B honor roll

The following were named students of the quarter at Morris area high school Kourtney Giese extra mile award (10) Sara Stallman citizenship award (12)
Future Farmers of America results dairy foods; 2nd place Sara Stallman and Melanie Van Horn; were members of that team;  nursery landscaping Beth and Becca Holland; soils 3rd place Brady Jergenson;  Rebekah Aanerud earned a trip to the state with her presentation in the farm bureau discussion meet at the regional meet at ridgewater college in Willmar on 1/23 ; the ag sales team finished first ;Tom Holland 9th individually;  small animal team 5th Melanie Van Horn: Amy Disselkamp ; crops evaluation 3rd ;Brady Jergenson;  food science team 10th at state; Carly Gullickson, Beth Holland ;this earned them a silver award.  those who will be receiving state degree awards are Sara Stallman,  Tom Holland ,Rebekah Aanerud, Tyler Heinrichs, earning proficiency awards were Tom Holland ag mechanics; and repair Jake Moser beef production
The Morris chapter has about 100 members Tom and Beth Holland are officers in the chapter Becca Holland and Jenna Moser are junior officers
Mark Koepke and I had an opportunity to visit Cal and Jan Bumgardner at Super Valu on Feb 14th. She said they recently had two new great children born out in Idaho.  As I mentioned earlier Mark’s Dad used to drive truck for Cal.
Jim and Lou Eystad and I attended Ash Wednesday services at good shepherd on Feb 13th. Earlier in the day I attended the open house at Morris bearing.
Mark Koepke and I attended the Niemackl fundraising breakfast at the Legion in Herman. Ed Ellison said future projects out there include staining the bridge, observation tower, and other things; and putting a new foundation under the granary.  The park day is scheduled for Sept 8th and they may have a workday out there this summer.
On Feb 20th Jim and Lou Eystad and I attended Lenten services; at good shepherd.  Lou says.  John, Barb and Connie and other family member were home this weekend to help her aunt Marlys Alm celebrate her 98th birthday.
