Welcome to another
edition of the of the Donnelly news
Weather news:
the weather has been typical of Minnesota very changeable thanksgiving weekend was
cloudy, cold, with some snow, but this week the sun came out for a few days and
it has been much nicer weather.
ST John’s/Kongsvinger
News: The KCLW brunch that was to be held today (Saturday) will not be held due
to the funeral. As of this writing no
decision has been made on a makeup date.
There will
be a Christmas carol sing- a -long at Saint John’s on Dec 2 at 2:30 pm followed
by a time of fellowship. Bring a friend and come and join us for an afternoon
of music and fellowship as we kick off this Advent Season. All are welcome!
The parish
will once again have hat /mitten tree for the Salvation Army toys for tots
program contact the parish office (246-3211) for info on needed/wanted items
The drawing
for the “where’s the beef supper” raffle will be held during coffee hour (about
9:30 am) at Saint John’s on Dec 2nd. Tickets can be purchased from
any Saint John’s member or are available at the parish office
Good Shepherd news: There will be advent
services on December 5th, 12th and 19th at 7
pm no supper this year. The theme is: Witness, Mercy and Life Together in
Advent: A Midweek Preaching Series.
The mission
of the month is the Malawi Missions coffee money goes Morris life care
pregnancy center
Due to
practice for the ss program on the 23rd there will be no adult bible
study after coffee hour until next year
The
following will take place today (Saturday)
There will
be a “toys for tots” drive at First Lutheran church from 9 am – 3 pm the Untied
Farmers and Merchants state bank is also a drop off place for the toys for tot drive
There will
be a World Mission Mart festival at Federated Church of Morris from 9 a.m. - 3
p.m. and after services on Dec. 2.
There will
be an open house and bake sale the museum in Morris from 9 am –noon
The annual
open house and bazaar at the Morris senior center will be begin at 9 am
“Angles among us” a presentation by Wayne and Donna Jo
Kopietze will be held on December 8th @ 2 pm at Faith Lutheran in
Morris
Former Donnelly
resident Denny Anderson passed away on November 21st Steve Fults and
I attended his visitation on November 26th at the funeral home and his
funeral at Saint John’s on November 27th He was a dear friend and I will miss him very much, we had lot of nice
visits together over the past few years. After the funeral I visited with Verle
and Della Dunn at their home in Donnelly
Florentine
Erickson passed away on November 27th survivors include her son
Gordon and niece Jeanne Ennen. Her funeral is today (Saturday) at 10:30 am at
Kongsvinger.
Levin Stand
recently became a life scout
Savannah
Aanerud and McKenzie Smith of the Tigers girls cross country team were named to
the west central conference all-conference team. Other awards McKenzie won were: most valuable
player, academic all state, player of the week, and she was co-winner of the Lions
Merle Festul award. She finishers her Tiger cc career by winning 5 meets this
year, placing second in 5, 2nd in the sections and 31st at the state.
The team itself won a gold academic award, as did the boys cross country team; Bo
Gullickson was a member of that team. Tom Holland was also a co-winner of the
Merle Festul award, he and his sister Becca along with Tyler Heinrichs were
among those named athletes of the week during the fall sports season. Tom was
also one of the KMRS/KKOK “player of the game” winners
Randy and
Karla (Giese) Schmiesing were recently named Stevens county outstanding
conservationists
On Now 23rd
I stopped at west wing village to visit Mary Dripps, Marjorie Armstrong and
Bill Underwood they all had family visit them on Thanksgiving Day.
Janice and
Jeanne Ennen were among the vendors at the Christmas galore event at the
National Guard Amory on November 23rd; earlier I stopped by Northern
Impressions for the chamber open house and had an opportunity see two of
Santa’s reindeer “Donner” and “Blitzen”; enroute home I stopped by McCollar
Jewelry to visit with Wally and help him put up some Christmas decorations

Anderson and I were among those who attended the holiday open house at Unger’s
furniture on November 25th
Jim and Lou
Eystad and I attended the following events at Good Shepherd: Thanksgiving eve
services and coffee fellowship on November 21st, the presentation by
Allan Saugstad on his trip to El Salvador last spring on the 25th; and we also helped
decorate the church for Christmas on the 26th. We also attended the sing a long
at the Eden Reformed church in Herman on the 25th
November 27th
I visited a friend in the Bethany home in Alexandria and had lunch with my
cousin Jan at Perkins. Enroute home I
stopped to visit my friend Inga Mae Urke in Starbuck
On 12/3 the red hatters will meet at the Herman bar and grill
(legion) @ 9 a.m. The city council and rendsville 4-h will also meet at 7 pm at
the fire hall and the hall
