an abbreviated edition of the of the Donnelly news been out of town a lot
lately and not had much time to work on it
Weather news
the weather has been sunny and mild for the most part; I have seen some beans
being harvested as well as some corn being picked and sugar beet harvest is in
full swing
STJ/KONG News: The fall schedule starts on Sept
16th with services at 8:30 am @ st j, ss @ Kong 9:45 am; and
services 11 am @ Kong.
KCLW guest
night will be held on Sept 23rd at 5:30pm at Kong. The program will
be “angles among us” by Wayne and Donna Jo kopietze
GSLC news: The 2x4 family band (Jerry and Molli Orpheum
and family) from Grand Rapids MN; will be in concert at the church on sept 22 @
7 pm with lunch to follow. They will
also be playing and singing at services on the 23rd @ 9 am and
during coffee hour afterwards. Everyone welcome, free will offering; for more
info check out the website twobyfourfamilyband.com or call the church at
585-6868. Molli Orpheum is the daughter
of Jan and late Dr. Alfred Trumble of Morris; I am sponsoring this concert in
memory of my mom and dad
Assumption Catholic
Church will have their annual September fest on Sept 16th beginning
with a mass at 10 am and continuing with various events thought out the day
Niemakel
Lake park day will be held on Sept 15th at the park located about half
ways between Herman and Donnelly .There will be a dinner served from 11-1 a
raffle drawing and other events.
The
bookmobile will be in town on Sept 17th at 3:30pm
The 4th
annual Non-Profit Resource Expo will be held on Sept 17th at the
MAHS from 5-8pm for info call the chamber @ 589-1242
There will
be an open house bridal shower for Ashley Mecklenburg, bride to be of David
Olson, today (sat) from 10 a.m. to noon at First Baptist Church, 601 Lyndale
Ave., in Morris. Ashley is the daughter of Loren and Kaylene Mecklenburg of
Morris and David is the son of Keith and Sheila Olson of Victoria. The couple
is registered at Target and Kohl's. Everyone is welcome.
Savannah Lee
Holzheimer was born, July 5, at Medcenter One in Bismarck, N.D., to Daniel and
Staci Holzheimer of Bismarck. Grandparents are Jeff and Sandy Anderson of Cyrus
and Warren and Marsha Holzheimer of Holloway. Great-grandparents are Marlene
Bruland of Cyrus, Yvonne Anderson of Glenwood, Leo and Goldie Wente of Benson
and Rhoda Holzheimer of Morris.
Alvin D. Storbakken
of Britton SD passed away on Sept 5th. Survivors include his sister,
former Donnelly area resident, Mable Realdson. I have posted a copy of his obit
on my blog. Mable along with her son and daughter in law Dick and Beth Realdson
of Paynesville attended his funeral on sept 10th in Britton SD
A good crowd
was on hand for the chamber welcome picnic on sept 6th.earleir in
the day the st co gen soc. had their meeting at the Morris public library the
next one is scheduled for Oct 4th.
Several of
us attended the reception for Kurt Bills republican candidate for us senate at
the Ag country auditorium in the wcroc HQ buildings
Several of
us from the Donnelly area spent some time in Dalton over the weekend at their
threshing show. Our little miss royalty were in the Dalton parade sat am, and Callista
Kill was also in the “parade of giants” on the grounds sat aft. In the eve a
good crowd was on hand for the movie Oct baby at the Morris e free church in
Morris
Jim and Lou
Eystad and I were among those who attended rally sun activities at gs on sept 9th.
Later we traveled to the Dennis Solvie farm to see his collection of
Minneapolis Moline’s.
The Donnelly
community club had their meeting on sept 5th. By whatever means one
uses to define the word successful the threshing bee was it with good weather,
crowds and participation in various events. Button sales and other revenue sources were about
the same as they have been for the past several years. Advance button sales
were down but those sold at the gate were up. Next year’s show is Aug. 24 &
25th and the feature will be gas engines. Earlier in day I attended
moment open house @ the Pedersen funeral home.
I spent sept
11 and 12th at big iron in Fargo. Enroute home I stopped at west
acres and had lunch with Mark Koepke. If
any of you are heading up that would like to meet him there or Wal-Mart or
someplace close to his place (he does not have a car) the best way to reach him
is via e-mail firebird357@yahoo.com or message him on Facebook (make
sure you get the one that has west Fargo as his address), he does not have a
phone or you can contact me and I will pass the info along to him.
Dorothy Johrdheim
reports that 4 carloads of frank family members made the trip from MN to Burlington
Ks for Bob Baldwin s visitation and funeral.
