Weather news: Fri and Tue evenings have brought some
welcome rains; the rest of the week has been sunny and dry. Some of the garden
produce I saw the Glenwood fair sure looked fantastic

@ 8:30 a.m. on Aug 19th this is a change from what was announced
earlier
GSLC news: VBS will be held on Aug 15th
and 22nd beginning with a pot luck supper at 5:30 pm. the main dish and
beverages will be furnished please bring a side dish For more info about vbs

The Thrivent picnic will be held on Aug. 15th at
Pomme De Park at 5:30 pm more info 589-1731
There will be an all-day fund raiser at the Pizza
ranch in Morris on Aug. 13th for “feed my starving children”. A
portion of the proceeds and tips from 11 am-2 pm and 5-8 pm will go to help
with expenses for the packing event later this month.
On Aug. 13th the Donnelly community club
and the fireman will meet at 7 pm at city hall and fire hall
There will be a meet the candidates for the
threshing bee royalty at the Donnelly hall on Aug 15th at 7:30 pm
There
will be an open house at the Morris sr center from 3-6 pm on Aug. 16th
Natalie Janae Zimenova was born on June 30th
at Douglas County Hospital to Roman Zimen and Janet Zimenova. Grandparents are
Merlyn and Angie Schwartz, of Donnelly.
Carter Daniel Erickson was born on June 16 at St.
Cloud Hospital, to Dan and Jammie Erickson of Albany. Grandparents are Ron and
Sue Wevley and Mark and Deb Erickson, all of Donnelly. Great-grandmothers are Liz
Ascheman, Esther Wevley and Evelyn Raasch. There will be a baby shower for him
Aug. 18th from 10 am-noon in the gazebo at the prairie inn in Morris
and he will be baptized at Kong on the 11th.
There will be an open house bridal shower for Amy
Gerber, bride to be of Blake Heinrich today (Sat) from 10 a.m. to noon in the
Gazebo at the Prairie Inn, Morris. Blake is the son of Scott and Beth Heinrich
of Morris, his grandmother is Lillian Heinrich they will be married on Sept 15
at the Heinrich farm by Donnelly
Marion Raasch
of Morris passed away on Aug. 1st survivors include a niece Deb
(Mark) Erickson and their family of Donnelly.
Lowell Christians of Herman passed away on Aug. 4th
survivors include his sister Brenda (Jeff) Volker and their family.
Congratulations to Mike Cihak who was recently installed as an officer of the Morris Eagles
Congratulations to Morris VFW auxiliary pres. Joan
Kopacek who was given an award for outstanding auxiliary achievements at 5th
dist. VFW meeting in Benson on July 18th, the auxiliary itself also
won several awards.
Congratulations to Ashley Mecklenburg who graduated
from Alex Tech earlier this year
Congratulations to the Morris American Legion bb team
that finished in 2nd place in the dist. legion tournament, the VFW bb
team finished in third place at their tournament.
Congratulations to Dave Lonergan who was recently
named fair person of the year for 2012 for dist. 7. He has been on the st co
fair board for 31+ years
Denny Anderson is now in the Starbuck home having
had an operation to remove a brain tumor last week (it was cancerous). I talked to him on the phone on Wed eve he
was in good spirits although he tires easily and said to tell everybody thanks
for all their prayers and get well wishes.

The threshing bee royalty were in the flekkefest
parade in el on Aug. 4th, the highlight of the parade was the appearance of the
U of MN marching band.
The Donnelly threshing bee is Aug. 25 and 26th
this week I will highlight the sat activities next wk. sun. They begin with a
pancake feed at 7 a.m., followed by a sb tournament, kiddie parade, tr. pull,
queen coronation and concluding with a dance at the hall featuring “pure
country” at 8 pm. There will also be a lot of activities both days i.e. horseshoe
tournament, lumber sawing, threshing, etc. displays in the schoolhouse and depot,
and the area churches will again be serving food on the grounds. New this year
is a smoke house sponsored by the Dfd
The Community Club is conducting a "Silent Auction"
on Aug 26 near the Depot from 2 - 4 pm. This fundraiser is to support the
upgrade for the Royalty float. Any
business, individual, or organization that would like to donate an item or cash
in addition to what has been donated, may contact Sandy Dunn at 246-3292, She is
still looking for pictures of former queens if you have any let her know.
There will be a work night on the grounds on Aug. 21st
at 6:30 pm to help get ready for the bee. Help of any kind by anybody before,
during, or after the bee is greatly appreciated all you need do is show up and
we will put you to work
This year’s feature is Oliver; the theme is “the “bee”
something for everyone”. Advance sale
buttons are available at various businesses in Donnelly, and all UFMSB
locations through Aug. 24th, (you save a dollar). You can get a
poster at HD & co in Donnelly; they will put up in the area soon. The

cart on the ground again this year for use by handicapped individuals
