Welcome to another addition of the Donnelly news
Weather news Mother Nature gave us a sneak peek of what is to come on sat when we had several inches of snow accompanied by some strong winds that made travel difficult. Temps warmed up some on Sun and roads were much better.
St J/Kong parish news: There will be no ss on Nov 27th it will resume on Dec 4th
The parish will be collecting nonperishable food items for the food shelf during the month of Nov. carts are located in the narthex of both churches for you to drop your items off or you may also make a cash donation and put it in the offering plate or mail or drop it off at the parish office.
The 7 & 8th grade confirmation classes in conjunction with Dakota ranch are again selling jars of honey. If you wish to buy one contact a member of the class or the parish office for details, the honey will be shipped directly to person you chose
The parish will once again be sponsoring a hat and mitten tree for the SA northern division. Items needed are hats mittens, scarves games puzzles etc. contact the parish office for a full list. The deadline is Dec 13th
GSLC News: there will be no more adult forums or bible studies until next year
Advent services will be held at the church beginning with a supper at 5:45 pm and services at 7 pm beginning Nov 30th and continuing through Dec 21st.
Callan Charles Erickson (Adam and Katie) was baptized at Kong on Nov 20th. His sponsors were Dan Erickson, Amy Bratten and Shawn and Julie Petersen
There will a Christmas sing a long at the Eden Reformed church in Herman on Nov 27th at 6 pm. Sonny Bartell asked me to encourage more people from the Donnelly area to attend.
There will be an open house 80th birthday for Arven Graff at the prairie Inn of Morris on Nov 26th from 1-3 pm. Everyone welcome no gifts please.
A time to remember will be held at the Pedersen funeral home on sun Dec 4th at 4 pm
There will be an open house baby shower for Ethan Charles Sperr, son of Adam and Michelle (Horning) Sperr Saturday, Nov. 26, 9:30-11:30 a.m. at Don and Tamela Sperr’s home, 46592 208th St., Morris (far end of 7th st).Addition: His great grandparents are Paul and Betty Sperr, Carolgene and Ed Wolf-Matthiesen of Ypsilanti, N.D., and Roger and Nancy Horning of Chokio and Lavonne Anderson of Yuma AZ.
Help the family of Jan and Roland Greiner celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, Nov. 25, by showering them with cards sent to their Donnelly address (13842 st hy 9)
The red hatters will meet at a place to be in Donnelly on Dec 5th at 1 pm, the city council and Rendsville 4-h will meet at city hall and the fire hall @ 7pm. The red hatters will also have their annual Christmas party on Dec 12 @ 1 pm at Hazel Asmus home in Herman pot luck lunch drink provided.
The st co republicans will have a meeting on Dec 5th at 6:15 pm at Detoy’s in Morris
On Dec 3rd the st co historical soc will have their annual holiday open house at the museum and The Morris sr. citizens will have their annual bazar at the sr. center. Both events begin at 9 am
Naomi Jean Lesmeister was born October 21, to Nick and Tabatha Lesmeister of Tyler, Texas. Grandparents are Jerry and Jane Lesmeister, Morris, and the late Jeanne Lesmeister, Jim and Tammy Anderson of Tyler, Texas. Great-grandparents are LaVerna Lesmeister of Morris and the late Jim Lesmeister, Shirley Anderson of Donnelly and the late Richard Anderson and George and Ione Gray of Jamestown, N.D.
Gloria Buntje of Ivanhoe formerly of Donnelly passed away on Nov 19th. She was a tel operator in Donnelly in the mid 40’s. Funeral services are pending
Congratulations to Brad and Brooke Gillespie and Chandler Erickson who made the honor roll at C-A H.S. and to Tara Flaten who did the same at Hancock H.S.
Pearl A. Anderson and I attended the holiday open house at Willie’s sv on Nov 17th, later Wally McCollar and I, were among those who enjoyed the music of umm choir concert at cc mall. In the eve the threshing bee royalty were among those who participated in the parade of lights. UFMSB was one of the winners in the parade.
The Donnelly hall was packed with bingo players on Nov 18th, local business and individuals graciously donated over 120 turkeys for the occasion. It was also an opportunity to showcase the new tables purchased by the Donnelly rod and gun club. Thanks to them for doing that. Chester Larson won the grand prize.
Geo and Shirley Libbon and I were among those who braved the roads and weather to attend the memorial service for Verna Rinkenberger at our Savior’s Lutheran church in Chokio on Non 19th. Many of you will remember that she spent over 50 years exhibiting in almost every category open to her in the garden and crop division of open class at various fairs. At the memorial gathering I said I still think of her every summer when I go into the open class buildings at area fairs and they have not been the same since her health no longer permitted her to do that.
Jim and Lou Eystad and I attended the new member sun services at gslc on Nov 20th and later the fall festival at Kong,
on Nov 22nd I visited Denny Anderson at his home in Donnelly
My farmland is now officially for sale; please see the ad in this week’s paper for more info. Since the weather put a damper on my plans to continue my yard sale on sat I am going to plan to be around for a while this aft (sat)to continue it and leave things up for another week or.
