DONNELLY NEWS

Next edition may 21st –May 27th
Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news. This edition is dedicated to the memory of my aunt (and “mom”) Pearl who passed away last year on May 27th.
Weather news: the end of last week was pretty much as a washout as it started raining Thursday and basically kept raining on and off until early Sun. The sun came out Sun am and it has remained sunny and mild ever since although the evenings are still cool unfortunately the forecast calls for rain again this weekend. As the fields dry out, farmers are busy getting them worked up and planted although there are still a lot of wet spots around the area.
STJ/KONG PARISH News: May 22nd is baccalaureate sun in the parish; there will a brunch in their honor at 10 am at Kong and they will be recognized during services.
There will be joint services at St J at 8:30 am on May 29th
VBS day camp will be held on June 15th at Luther crest. Contact the parish office for more info.
Congratulations to Samantha Greiner who won a perfect attendance award from the parish ss and to all the other award winners too numerous to mention. Thanks also to Supt Laura Lehman and all the ss teachers for their hard work during the past year.
We want to welcome the newest member of our parish Brenden Jon Hughes son of Jon and Toni (Kloos) Hughes who was baptized at Kong on May 15th.

GSLC news: Rev Michael Hanson of Glenwood will be installed as pastor of gs on May 22nd during services at 9 am followed by a pot luck dinner (no ss). Everyone is welcome to join the celebration. His first service will be on May 29th.
There will be a farewell dinner and program on May 21st for Rev Ali Boomershine at First Lutheran in Morris following the 10:45 am service.

There will be a benefit for Clay and Melanie Van Horn today (Sat) at the community center and park in Alberta. They lost their possessions in a house fire in Dec. Dinner will be from 11-3 (free will donation). There will also be a silent auction, petting zoo, and pony rides.
Dorothy Kent of Benson formerly of the Donnelly area passed away on May 15th. A sister in law Virene Olson of Morris is among the family members that survive her. Her parents were the late Carl and Hazel Peterson of Donnelly
Congratulations to Tyler Rouske who won the 200 meter dash in the regional true track meet recently
Congratulations to the following Rendsville 4-her’s that have earned a trip to the state in knowledge bowl, MaKenzie smith, Kendra Sperr, Natalie Johnston, Cammi ,Rebecca and Savannah Aanerud
Congratulations to the C-A H.S. mixed ensemble-vocal that won a superior rating at the state music contest Alex Erickson is a member of that group.
Congratulations to Brady Gillespie, who was recently selected as the boy state representative, from c-a.
Congratulations to the Morris –CA SB team that won the wcc south championship on May 17th.Beth Holland and Hailey Henrichs are members of that team.
Congratulations to Joan Kopacek who was recently elected president of the VFW auxiliary
Pearl A. Anderson and I attended the ice cream social at the WWV on May 13th. Later in the aft I attended the visitation for Ron Hottovy at the Pedersen funeral home. His brother- in- law and I were classmates. In the eve it was off to Trinity in Cyrus for the concert by “Dakota Road”. At the concert, Tammy Speer announced that the “feed my starving children packing event” will return to Morris again in late Aug.
Many friends and family members were among those of us who attended the UMM commencement on May 14th.
Jim and Lou Eystad and I attended services at gs on May 15th. The guest preacher was Rev Paulus Pilgrim of Hutchison. His grandfather G. A. Pilgrim was pastor at Peace in Morris and St J in Donnelly for 40 years.
Ken Cline reports that his wife Esther is out of the hospital and back in the Barrett care center.
Wally McCollar was among those who attended the committal service for Harry “Buzzy” Olsen at St Theresia’s cemetery on May 14th. Others attending included his children, Bill and Mary Drips and some of their family, and several members of the Winkels family
Jody and Colleen Wilke of St Cloud came up on May 18th to visit his mother Pearl A. Anderson and help her out with some yard work.
Several weeks ago the west central Minn. cattleman’s association teamed up with Willie’s sv for a beef promotion event. One of the cattleman helping out at that event was my classmate Jerry Wulf and he said I should put it in my column that they were doing that. Since I aim to please I am.
