Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news. I am sorry about all the mistakes I have made lately I plan on implementing some changes that will hopefully eliminate some of them.
Weather news: At the end of last week it had dried out and warmed up enough for many area farmers to get in the field and get some crops in. However it rained all day Sun bringing everything to a halt and unfortunately the forecast calls for more rain this week. I did see one field of grain up already.
STJ/KONG PARISH News: there will be joint services at Kong on May 15th at 11 am with the SS kids singing. It will also be adopted grandparents day with an award ceremony for the ss kids during services.
May 22nd is baccalaureate sun in the parish; there will a brunch at 10 am to recognize them. If you have a grad and have not notified the parish office please do a.s.a.p.
GSLC news: May 15 is new member Sunday, if you would like to join as a regular or associate member please call 392-5548.
Rev Michael Hanson of Glenwood will be installed as pastor of gs on May 22nd during services at 9 am followed by a pot luck dinner. Everyone is welcome to join the celebration.
There will be a benefit for Clay and Melanie Van Horn on May 21st at the community center and park in Alberta. They lost their possessions in a house fire in Dec. Dinner will be from 11-3 (free will donation). There will also be a silent auction, petting zoo, and pony rides.
There will be an open house bridal shower today (Sat) in honor of Becky Smith and Bryan Taffe from 10 a.m. to noon at Faith Lutheran Church, Morris.
New Wine performances continue today (Sat) and tomorrow at first Lutheran. There will a farewell dinner/ program for Rev Ali Boomershine on May 22nd following the 10:45 am services at first Lutheran.
The st co gen soc had their meeting on May 5th at the library, later we enjoyed some cake in honor of the library’s 125th aniv. The next meeting will be on Sept 1st.
Elaine Harstad and I attended the wam mtg at Trinity in Benson on May 7th. Anne Gran gave a very good presentation about her trip to Ethiopia on behalf of LCMC. The next meeting will be on June 4th at Kong. In the aft we attended the funeral for Thelma Leegard at Kong. In between the two events I attended the exotic animal auction at the Web Livestock barn in Benson, visited my cousin Bev Hurlbult at LL, and the graduation open house for Mitchell Heinrich at the Sr. Center in Morris,
The Donnelly community club had a lengthy meeting on May 9th as we continue to make plans for the bee and other events. It was decided to raise the price of admission by a dollar both in advance and at the gate and that next year’s feature would be Oliver. Anyone with ideas for the bee and/or other events is encouraged to talk to one of the officers. The next meeting will be on June 13th.
Due to the large number of events in the past few weeks I have had to withhold some news so this is catch up week.

The W/H-N Jr. Olympic 16 vb team that took gold at the Minnewaska tournament. Samantha Larson is a member of that team. She also made the honor roll at H-N. Her sister Hannah was a member of the H-N H.S. flute trio that won superior at the district music contest in Morris recently
To: Tara Flaten who was named to the honor role at Hancock H.S.
The stampede 4-h club which won the “snickers” award at the share the fun event held at Hancock on Apr 2nd. There are several Donnelly area 4-h’ers that are members of that club
The mahs boys track team that won their own invitational on Apr 19th and the Marv Meyer invitational on Apr 12th Tyler Rouske is a member of that team and he won the 100 dash at the tiger invitational and 200 dash at the Myer and tiger invitational recently. They finished runner ups in the Monte and Little crow invitational. Tyler was a member of the 4x 200 relay team that took first place. They also won the true track section meet and will be competing in the state tournament.

To Dylan Recker who won the local contest for the young American creative patriotic arts award scholarship contest.
To Katie Geise who was one of the winners in the Americanism contest and the speech contest at St. Mary’s school.
To the Old # 1 bowling team which recently won the Hi-Lo league championship. Members of that team include Joan Fults, Deanna Heuer; carol Krummrow, and Judy Hakfer.
To Sydney Beyer who was recently selected to be Ambassador of the Year for the BPA National Torch Awards. She beat out 6,000 other students to win this award
The Morris/CA B boy’s B bb team that recently finished an unbeaten season Tom Holland, Chandler Erickson and Tyler Henrichs are members of that team. MaKenzie Smith and Beth Holland are members of the Morris /CA B GB team that finished 22-1.
To Kody Armstrong on the event of his confirmation on May 1st and for making the honor roll at the West central area high School.
The Morris bb team that won their tourney on Apr. 30th, Alex Erickson is a member of that team. The Morris girls’ sb team finished as runner ups in their tournament Beth Holland and Haley Henrichs are members of that team,
To: Deb Root on her new job as bookkeeper /receptionist at NHAS in Chokio.
To: Ray Kill for winning the 9 pin no tap tournament at the crystal Lanes in Morris.
Janice Halverson, Anna Weispfenning and boys and Beth Larson spent some time over the weekend visiting family and friends in the area.
Margret Larson, Marge Kleinhans and Jane Harstad were among those who were honored UMM recognition dinner at Umm recently
