DONNELLY NEWS

Next edition Feb 19th -25th
Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.

Weather news: after months of ice, snow, and bitter cold it was nice to get a respite from winter during the past week. After bottoming out at about -20 last Thursday eve temps began to rise and have been in the ‘30’s and ‘40’s ever since melting some of the snow around here and giving snow removal equipment and their operators a well-deserved rest. Well temps are forecast to cool down some later this week they will still be comfortably above 0
STJ/KONG PARISH News: there will be joint services at Kong at 11 am on Feb 27th with the ss kids singing. Services will also be broadcast on kmrs at 11 am

There are still two Lutheran worship broadcast dates left to sponsor on kmrs for our parish. If you wish to sponsor one in honor or memory of someone please contact the parish office
The Feb parish newsletter is now out extra copies are available in the narthex of each church.
GSLC news: Feb 20th is new member Sun. if you want to become a full or associate member call 392-5548
There will be a cleanup day at the gslc church site on Feb 26th @ 9 am
St Mary’s school in Morris will have their annual dinner and auction today (sat) at old #1 Southside in Morris beginning with a social hour at 5:30 pm dinner at 6 pm
Dr. Terry Moretson of "answers in genesis" will be the guest speaker for a series of meetings “not ashamed” at the mahs auditorium on Feb 27 and the hosanna worship center in Morris on the 28th. Events begin on the 27th with a music worship program at 9:30 am followed by a program at 10:30 am and continuing at 6 and 7:30 pm. On the 28th programs are at 11 am (grades k-6), 12:45 pm (grades 7-12) and concludes with two programs at 6 and 7:30 pm. Thrivent members can obtain special discount on the play Jesus Christ superstar at the Chanhassen dinner theatre Tue-Thursday eves during the show’s run through July 30th. For more info call 1-800-4836 or log on to mythrivent.
The bookmobile will be in Donnelly on Feb. 21st and Mar 7th from 3:30-3:50 pm
The st co rep party executive committee will have a meeting at Detoy’s in Morris at 6 pm on Feb 21st. The party convention will be held on Mar 4th at the Legion in Morris beginning with registration at 6:30 pm meeting at 7 pm
The 2011 RTA telephone books are now out. Extra copies are available at HD & co in Donnelly, the RTA offices in Hoffman and other places in their service area.
Niemakel Lake Park board will have their annual fund raising pancake breakfast on Feb 20th from 10:30 am- 1 pm at the legion in Herman. When I talked to one of the board members after the park day last year he indicated that future plans for the park include making it more handicapped accessible.
The don co-op will have their annual meeting on Feb 25th beginning with a noon meal at the Donnelly hall
The st co gen soc will have their first meeting of the year on Mar 3 at 1:30 pm at the library in Morris.
The po in Donnelly will be closed on Feb 21st due to the president’s day holiday.
There will be an open house in honor of gert Brandt’s 90th birthday on Feb 26th from 1-3 pm at the Glenwood Lutheran church in Glenwood. No gifts please. She is a former Donnelly area resident.
Larry Lent of brotten passed away on Feb 2nd. A brother dale (Pam) Lent of Donnelly is among the family members that survive him

Congratulations to Justin Johnston who recently received a pork check off, pioneer hi bred and pic scholarship. He is a student at the U of MN his parents are Lee & Judy

Jim and Lou Eystad and I attended services at gs on Feb 13th. In the aft I attended the annual meeting of the schs at the museum. Bernice Erdahl was reelected to the board. Rod Evans gave a very interesting program on palaces on the prairie. Most of us have heard of the corn palace in Mitchel but through the years there have been other kinds of palaces built in north and South Dakota, neb, Texas, WY etc. and the alfalfa arch built in Morris in 1913
Steve Fults and I attended the Nhas annual meeting at the legion in Herman on Feb 15th. The co-op had another good year with a net profit of 8.6 million. Afterwards I visited Selma Bruse at her apt in Herman.
Jim and Lou Eystad visited her aunt Marlys Alm at her apt in Morris on the 13th. On the eve of the 24th they helped Rita Kiser and colleen dogotch celebrate their birthdays at the diamond club along with their husband Pete and tom. On the 16 they visited Lillian hanrock in the hosp.
