Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.

 

Weather News: it has been bitterly cold the last weeks, but the forecast is for warmer weather ahead as I write this.

 

St, John's/Kongsvinger news: services are now being held indoors again with some restrictions in place. If you do not wish to go inside, you may remain in your car and listen in on your car radio 98.5 .service bulletins are inside the Kitchen door of both churches.

 

 

Lenten services will continue to alternate between churches at 7 p.m.

Feb 24th st J Mar 3rd Kong

 Services are at 9:30 a.m., on the 1st, 3rd, 5th Sun at Kongsvinger, the 2nd and 4th Sun at St, John's. Communion is on the 1st and 4th Sun of the month. The Parish office remains closed; call or e-mail if you need assistance. For the time being, Rev. Rochelle Anderson is providing pastoral care. Please contact a council president if you need pastoral care or call her at 320-287-2663.  On Sunday at 10:30 at Kongsvinger, we have resumed having regular ss. Please check with somebody about the status of other events in the parish, i.e., "ladies aide."

 

Gslc news: there will only be one service at 9 a.m., followed by a limited coffer hr. and ss. Congrats to Brittany Woodke on receiving her first communion on Feb 7th at GSLC

 

Since things are in a state of flux, please check with your local church for their latest update on service times and details, and other events. Also, remember that there are services, devotionals, etc., available on FB, YouTube, church websites, local access channels, radio, etc.

 

Donnelly fire Department meets on the 2nd and 3rd Monday of the month at 7 p.m. at the fire hall. City council on the 1st sat of the month at 4 p.m. at city hall, Rendsville 4-h on the first Mon of the month at 6:30 p.m. at St John's. Note these are scheduled meetings and subject to change, and I assume restrictions, i.e., masks, social distancing, etc. Some, i.e., 4-H, may be done by Zoom.

Death notice Lyla Cin of Glenwood, formerly of Donnelly, passed away on Feb 7th. Survivors include her husband Les of Glenwood and sister-in-law Irene Strand of Morris (both formerly of Donnelly )and their families.

The Stevens co genealogical society will not meet until this fall. 

 

Past week: bible study & ash wed services at GS; Jeff Niedenthal presentation on proposed changes to the history curriculum at old # 1

 

The spring Rusc-kinship fundraiser is raffle tickets sold by the Eagles; contact Jeanne Ennen or RUSC HQ for details. The drawing is on Mar 1st

In the Feb.16th edition of the Morris paper, a list of students made the honor roll at Morris area schools. Some Donnelly kids are on the list too many to list here, so congrats to them all.

 

If you have time, stop into the Stevens county museum and look at the display on bands in Stevens County, including the old Kongsvinger one.

The Donnelly Fire Department recently received tokens of appreciation in the form of cookies from the Morris VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries.
