Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news Please remember that on occasion due to space requirement parts of my column do not get published but you can always read the full column on my blog.
Weather news: when I wrote my column last week I thought winter was done with but the first day of spring has brought has brought the return of winter to the area with rain turning to snow and a winter storm in progress. The whole week has been cold, damp and wet.
STJ/KONG PARISH News: Lenten services continue each week alternating between St J (mar 30th) and ` Kong (Apr 6th) at 7 pm with a lunch to follow. The offering will be used for the cups of compassion; the lunch money will be used for the elca Malaria inactive. The Lenten quarter offering will divided between the SA and Red Cross for flood relief

There will be joint services at St J on Mar 27th (with the ss kids singing) at 11 am and again on Apr 3rd at 8:30 am. SS will be at St J both Suns at 9:45 am
There will be a benefit noon meal for family of Burton Strand of Donnelly, on April 3, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Kongsvinger Parish Hall, Free will donation. All are welcome! Supplemental funding provided by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, Stevens County Chapter #31318. Donations may also be left at the UFMSB through April 15.

St J spring fling is Apr 16th they are looking for “white elephant” items and donations for the raffle. Items can be left at the church about a week beforehand for more info contact the church office
GSLC news: services will continue to be held in the cougar room at the Prairie Inn in Morris at 9 am until the planned move to the church site on 480th avenue on palm sun Apr. 17th
Lenten services continue at St J of rural starbuck with supper at 6 pm and services at 7 pm
The call committee has called for a special meeting of the congregation on Apr 3 for the purpose of presenting a candidate for pastor of the church. Everyone is encouraged to attend this meeting.
Grief share program continues for the next 12 weeks on Mon eves at 6:45 pm at the Morris E Free Church.
WAM will meet on Apr 2rd at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in starbuck. The program will be a report on the new mission churches in the area such as gslc. Coffee at 9:30 am program at 10 am
Rev Kristine Braaten- Lee pastor at the Lutheran campus ministry in Morris and trinity in Alberta recently announced she had accepted a call to Northfield MN and would be leaving in mid Apr. A farewell open house for her will be held at the Christus house in Morris on Apr. 5th from 3-6 pm. Everyone is welcome come and wish “PK” good luck in her new call.
The Donnelly community club will have their first meeting of the year on Apr. 4th at 7 pm at the town hall in Donnelly. We will be starting to make plans for this threshing bee as always ideas or suggestions for it or any other events are always welcome.
Also on the 4th the red hatters will meet at the place to be at 1 pm; the bookmobile will be in town @ 3:30 pm, the city council will meet in the council chambers, and the Rendsville 4-h club will meet at the fire hall at 7 pm
The st co gen soc will meet on Apr. 7th @ 1:30 pm at the library in Morris.
NHAS is raising money to fight hunger you can leave donations at the elev. in Donnelly.
Pederson funeral home is sponsoring a spring seminar on Apr. 5th at the old #1 Southside at 10 am

Harry “Buzzy” Olson of AZ formerly of Donnelly passed away on mar 12th. His Dad was the janitor at the Donnelly School for many years. Among the family members that survive him, is his sister Mary (Bill) Dripps of Morris.
Congratulations to Steve Fults who elected co-chair of the st co rep party on Mar 6th and to Andy brevig who was reelected treasurer.
Congratulations to mini jazz dance team that won their division at the just for kix untied we dance competition in Brainerd on Mar 6th Katie Geise is a member of that team, her parents are Brian and Holy Geise, grandparents are Howard and ditto Hennen

Congratulations to the following Morris bpa students who competed in the state bpa competition and won the right to compete in the national competition in Wash D.C.: Sydney Beyer, Sydney Sperr and Sami Searle.
Congratulations to the sr. 4-h project bowl general livestock team that won first place at the Foley tournament and will advance to the state, Kendra Sperr, Jake Moser, MaKenzie smith and Natalie Johnston are members of that team Natalie’s dad Lee is coach of that team. The c Jr. Team placed 9th Jonna Moser is a member of that team, her dad Jon is the coach.
Congratulations to the following that were honored at the MAHS winter sports banquet Beth Holland honorable mention all-conference girl’s bb and Kourtney Giese co-most valuable gymnast
Jim and Lou Eystad and I attended the visitation and funeral for Julette Banister on Mar 18th and 19th. They also attended Lenten services at St J (starbuck) on Mar 16th ,visited her aunt Marlys Alm on the aft of the 19th ,services at GSLC, the ss adopted grandparent’s event at Kong and the sing a long at the Eden reformed church in Herman on the 20th. The music was provided by the “singing strings” from Lowry.
Andy Brevig and I attended the KCLW’S “It’s a cake walk” birthday dinner at Kong on Mar 20th. He was one of those lucky enough to win a birthday cake.
Dorothy Johrdheim was among the ST J WELCA ladies who helped out at their St Pats day party at the WWV on the 17th.
Jack, John, Joan Kopacek and I attended the 125th annual meeting of the Delaware mutual assoc. at the Legion in Herman on Mar 21st. thanks to North Star mutual for the nice tool kit I won there.
