DONNELLY NEWS

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news. Please note that on occasion when listing an event I sometimes get the day and/or time wrong so if you are planning on attending any of the events I have listed in my column it is a good idea to double check the info.

Weather news: Although there were no major storms during the past week there were plenty of “minor” ones that featured enough blowing and drifting to make digging out an almost daily job. Tue brought some of the coldest temps of the year so far too.
STJ/KONG PARISH News: The Kong annual meeting will be at noon (following services) on Jan 23rd followed by a potluck dinner.
On Jan 30th there will be a joint service of Holy Communion at st J at 11 am with the ss kids singing. SS will be at 9:45 am at st j.
Copies of the annual report for ea. church are available in the narthex of each church.
The klcw is collecting items for health kits for in kind offerings at the glacial ridge spring gathering and the SW MN synod women’s meeting this spring. For a list of items needed please contact the parish office or call 677-2784. There is collection box in the parish hall finical donations are also being accepted.
GSLC news: The Jan mission project is support for the reclaim hymnal. To help raise funds Good Shepherd is also taking partial down payments on a hymnal. If you wish to order one in honor or memory of someone please send a check for "ReClaim" and the name, if any, to "RECLAIM", at 34705 190 St, Starbuck, MN, 56381. For more info visit the reclaim website www.ReclaimResources.org, or call 800-590-6001. Jim and Lou Eystad and I attended services there on the 16th.
The Donnelly city council meetings are now being taped and airing on Ch. 6 on the Runestone cable system. Times are posted on channel 6 and in the future at the post office. They will also be available on the web in the future. At the Jan meeting mike Kopel was elected to fill Walt Biesterfeld seat. If anyone has any questions or concerns they would like the city council to address they may drop them in the slot at the town hall where you pay your water bill. Anyone is welcome to attend the city council meetings which are open to the public they are held on the first Mon of the month at 7 pm
The Donnelly co-op will have a winter crop meeting on Feb 1st at 10 am at the hall with lunch to follow. For more info call the co-op at 246-3555
Ray murphy of Alex passed away on Jan 13th. Family members who survive him include a brother in law Delbert (bev) Henrichs of New Richmond, WI, formerly of Donnelly
Congratulations to Jim and Lou Eystad who celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on Jan 17th.
Verle and Della Dunn and I were among those who attended the funeral for Lloyd Volker at Peace Lutheran church in Barrett. On Jan 14th
Enroute home from Morris on Jan 15th I stopped by cottonwood lake to get some info about the rod and gun club’s fishing derby. At that point in time only 5 fish had been caught.
After attending services at gslc on Jan 16th I attended the habit for humanity breakfast at the legion, visited Ruth strand at her home, at the WWV, and the sunrise apts before ending the day at visitation for ray murphy at the Pedersen funeral home in Morris. I also attended his funeral on Jan 17th at assumption catholic church. His son Craig is a classmate of mine.
Diane Amundson and I visited our cousin bev Hurlbut at LL on Jan 17th.
I am happy to report that Denny Bourassa is now home from the hospital and when I saw him in Morris this week he said he was feeling better.
A number of family and friends attended end the funeral for grant smith on Jan 15th. Among those unable to attend were his son David danzeison, his sons mike, grant, and chad and their children and grants daughter Emilie gielske, Emilie’s daughters and son in law Michelle and chad Hintz and their daughter Taylor.
