Dec.1st-7th
Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.
Weather news: well a somewhat lovely day on Fri. meant that a lot of snow melted but most other days have been cold. See there are still a few cornfields to be harvested yet in the area
St. John's/ Kongsvinger news: there will be joint services on December 2nd at Kongsvinger at 9:30 a.m. followed by coffee hour and Sunday school Christmas program practice. Joint services on December 9th at St. John’s with Sunday school Christmas program practice before services and the program will be presented during the worship services. It will be repeated that evening at Kongsvinger at 5 p.m. with fellowship and refreshments afterward at both churches.
November is food shelf month; donation carts are available in the narthex of both churches for nonperishable food items, the parish again has a hat and mitten tree and toys for tots this year. “Give cancer the boot” donation containers for the Ryan Winter’s family are available in the back of both churches until late December
There will be a poinsettia garden at both churches again this year contact the Parish office for more info

Sunday school Christmas program practice will be on December 2nd after church at Kongsvinger December 5th from 4-5:30 p.m. and December 9th from 8:45 a.m. -9:20 p.m. at ST. John’s. The program will be presented on December 9th during services at 9:30 at ST. John’s and at 5 p.m. at Kongsvinger with fellowship and refreshments to follow both programs.
St. John’s is having a raffle again this year instead of a beef dinner. For more info or to purchase a ticket contact the parish office
GSLC NEWS advent services start on December 5th at 7 p.m.

  Other church news: faith Lutheran Sunday school program December 16th 11 a.m., cookie factory December 8th 9 a.m. noon living nativity December 24th 3 and 5 p.m.
Cross-eyed will present a Christmas program on December 9th at 3 p.m. at Our Saviors Chokio with refreshments afterward
The First Lutheran S.S. program is on December 16th at 4:30 p.m.
Santa will be in town on December 2nd at the hall at 2 p.m. come early and help welcome him to town, there will be treats Christmas cookies, cider coffee and apple juice for everybody
Pedersen funeral home’s “A Time to Remember” service will be held on December 2nd at 2 p.m. at the funeral home
Gathering for widows and widowers will be held on December 9 in the basement of Old # 1 at noon
Herman red hatters meet on December 3rd at 9 a.m. at AJ’s Herman; bring a Christmas gift bought at AJ’s $2 limit
On December 1st Stevens county historical society open house is from 9 a.m. –noon at the museum and open house at Morris senior center 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
I have three death notices this week Deb Heinrichs of Morris passed away on  November 22nd survivors include her husband, former Donnelly area resident, Rollie Henrichs of Morris, John Delong of Morris formerly of Donnelly passed away on November 25th, Arven Graff of Morris, formerly of the Donnelly area passed on November 24th.

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news. Mana Takk to my loyal readers out there
Weather news: several inches of snow and some cold temps the past week have made it feel very winter like around here. I think most farmers in the area have got their crops harvested and fall fieldwork done.
St. John's/ Kongsvinger news: there will be joint services at ST.  John’s on November 25th at 9:30 a.m. followed by coffee hour, no Sunday School; at on December 2nd at Kongsvinger at 9:30 a.m. followed by coffee hour and Sunday school
Services will be broadcast on the radio (KMRS) at 11 a.m. on November 25th

Kalevi Kai Torma was born November 12, 2018, at Stevens Community Medical Center to Andrea and Joha Torma of Morris, MN. Kalevi weighed 7 lbs. 14 oz. and was 19 inches long. Grandparents are Becky Bergstrom of Donnelly, MN and Sharon Torma of Hancock, MN. Great-grandmother is Irene Strand of Morris, MN.
Walter “Sonny” Schwendemann, of Starbuck, passed away on November 19th survivors include his brother in law Andy Brevig of the Herman, Donnelly area
The Threshing bee royalty was part of the parade of lights in Morris on November 15th

donnelly news

Nov 17th-23rd
Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.
Weather news well the past week has been winter-like with several inches of snow, cold temps and brisk winds. There are still a few corn fields out there,  needing harvesting yet, and some fields requiring some fall tillage to be finished too. Talked to my former renter he said they had good yields this year as I am writing this (Wednesday evening) we had a beautiful day and is supposed to be nice again tomorrow Thursday
St. John's/ Kongsvinger news: On November 18th at 9:30 a.m. there will be joint services at Kongsvinger followed by S.S. which will meet in the church basement (no coffee hour due to the fall festival) there will be joint services at St. John’s November 25th at 9:30 a.m. followed by coffee hour NO s.s.
Kongsvinger fall festival is on November 18th at the parish hall from 11a.m.-1 p.m. on the menu is grilled pork chops, baked potatoes, candied carrots rolls, etc.  With lots of Scandinavian goodies for sale too; tickets are available at the door.  In preparation for the festival, there will be a lefse making day today (Saturday) at 9 a.m.

GSLC NEWS:  annual meeting on November 18th following services followed by a potluck dinner

Former Donnelly resident Howard Larson and his wife Theresa of Idaho recently celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary
An open house baby shower for the upcoming addition to the Alissa (Melberg) and Kirby Sayles family will be held from 10 a.m. to noon today (Saturday), at the Morris Senior Center. All are welcome. Her parents are Jay Melberg, Penny Melberg; grandparents Audrey and Nancy Henrichs
Margret Kramer of Herman passed away on November 9th survivors include her sister in law former Donnelly resident Joyce Kramer of Morris
Brian Moser of Morris passed away on October 31st; survivors include his brother Tim (Kim) Moser of Donnelly and their family

Nov 10th-16th
Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news. This issue is in loving memory of my aunt Mable van Olst who passed away on November 10th, 2002
Weather news as I am writing this we have had several days of cold, rain, snow a reminder winter is not far away.  Most of the corn in the area has been harvested lot of fall tillage work has been done too
St. John's/ Kongsvinger news: There will be joint services at 9:30 a.m. at St John's on November 11th with a coffee hour and Sunday school to follow services. There will be joint services at Kongsvinger on November 18th at 9:30 a.m. followed by S.S. which will meet in the church basement (no coffee hr. due to fall festival)

Nov 3rd -9th
Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news. This issue is in loving memory of my dad who passed away on October 31st, 2005.
Weather news: Several nice sunny days this week followed a cold, wet weekend. Farmers are making good progress getting the corn picked and fall tillage done.
St. John's/ Kongsvinger news: There will be joint services at 9:30 a.m. at Kongsvinger November 4th; with a coffee hour and Sunday school to follow services
 On October 28th Aria Peyton Oelke was baptized at Kongsvinger. Parents Jessica (Bergstrom) and Joe Okle, Becky Bergstrom grandmother, Irene strand great-grandmother
0n 11/11 at 11 a.m. bells will be rung at both churches in observance of the 100th aniv of the end of WW1
GSLC NEWS: PR. Horacio Castillo Echeverria will be at Gs to preach and lead adult Ed on Nov 4th. He is working to rise up pastors, in Mexico and Nicaragua

Rosie Hanson grandmother of Pr Mike Hanson passed away on October 31st

On the ballot in Donnelly are two council seats and the mayor’s office up for election in Donnelly on November 6th. Mail-in ballots only this year for Donnelly and surrounding area
Former Donnelly area resident Gary Windom of Newburg Oregon, Passed away on October 21st. Local survivors include his uncle and Aunt Les Cin of Glenwood and Irene Strand of Morris
