Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news

Weather news, for the most part, the weather has been sunny & mild we had a good rain shower sun eve. Giant mountains of corn in the area mean corn harvest is precedency rabidly some tiling, and fall tillage is =also going on in the area.

ST. John's/Kongsvinger news: The October schedule is the same as it has been for several months, with drive-in communion services at Kong on the first Sunday of the month and the 4th Sunday at St John's. Other Sundays will be a service of the word. No other activities will take place in either church until further notice.  I assume Nov. will be the same.


Rev. Rochelle Anderson of Morris will be providing pastoral care until further notice; if you need care, contact the parish office or one of the church presidents. You can also watch our "virtue" services on Facebook and YouTube.


The parish office is closed due to the COVID 19 outbreak; call 246-3211, e-mail (stjKongsvinger@runestone.net), or send mail (box 97) when assistance is needed.



Other Church news, Faith-Morris now has outdoor worship Sun at 9 a.m. they will move indoors if the temp is below 50 deg. first-Morris services are at 9:30 a.m.,  first will start to have indoor services again beginning in Nov.

Fusion youth has restarted. TLC Cyrus, st j/Kong Donnelly, Faith, First, and the Federated Church in Morris, are the sponsoring churches for this ministry. Contact any of the churches for more info.


The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church schedule wed eve, and outdoor drive-in services have ended. in their place, there will be two services on Sun a.m. the first at 9 a.m. in the dining hall will be informal with no singing, and the 2nd one will be a regular one at 10:15 in the sanctuary.  For more info, call the church at 585-6868. It has been ten years since we moved the church from south of Alberta to its present location, north of Morris. Thanks to the Hufford family for donating the land for the church to sit on

Please check with your local church for what their plans are. A reminder that you will find virtual services, devotions, etc. on fb, YouTube, local access channels, church websites, and the radio; for many area churches,

There will be No lutefisk dinner at first this year. Instead, a ham take -out dinner will replace it on November 6th from 4:30–7 p.m.   No meatball dinner at Faith or a Fall Festival at Kongsvinger this yr.  I assume this applies to most of the other fall dinners in the area.

For sale in Donnelly: wooden desks by the community club; contact an officer for more details. And a fire truck by the DFD.

Dfd meets on October 19th at 7 p.m. at the fire hall in Donnelly.

I asked a DFD member about turkey bingo, and they told me that nothing had been decided for sure yet about bingo, but they will probably have a  raffle rather than have bingo.

Norm Gulbrandson of Hoffman, formerly of Donnelly, passed away on September 13th

Betty Johnson of Donnelly passed away on October 11th

Lila Asmus of St cloud passed away on October 16th; survivors include her grandaughter Audrey Larson (and the late Steve)of Donnelly and her family. 

Moose Island raiders won the 9-f trap shooting league BJ Werk was the high shooter.

The threshing bee Royalty part of the Morris Area h.s. homecoming parade on October 9th

KAYLA VOLKER & Joel Lyle were married on Aug.1st at the Bratten barn -Glenwood. her dad is Kevin Volker of the Donnelly area

Cruz Michael Villella was born on September 29th to Gerardo villa & Courtney Jergenson of Morris grandparents include Jerri Jergenson of Morris, great grandparents include bob & barb Jergenson of Morris.

Seira Marie Hormann was born on September 30th at scmc to drew and Miranda Hormann of Starbuck.  Grandparents are dean & Leila Hormann of Starbuck. The late John Delong is great grandparent, 

Most voters in the Donnelly area will vote by mail or at the courthouse in Morris.
