August 4th-11th

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.

Before you make plans to attend any meetings or scheduled events in the Donnelly area, please check with somebody to make sure they are still going to hold it.  

Weather News, mostly hot & dry past week, had some rain the crops continue to look good what got thrashed in Rose City certainly looked good.

ST. John' s/Kongsvinger news: tentative schedule subject to change: Aug 9th service of word and song at ST. John's no drive-in service and on August 16th at Kongsvinger. All services are at 9:30 A.M., for drive in services tune into 98.5 on your car radio

A complete schedule for the rest of the summer is in the July newsletter. No other activities will take place in either church until further notice.

Rev. Rochelle Anderson of Morris will be providing pastoral care until further notice, if you need care, contact the parish office or one of the church presidents. You can also watch our "virtue" services on Facebook and YouTube.

Other Church news, Faith-Morris now has outdoor worship Sun at 9 A.M. first-Morris at 9:30 A.M.

The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church schedule for the next few weeks is August 5th - Indoor Service - 7:00 P.M., August 9th - Indoor Service - 9:00 A.M. August 9th - Drive-In Service - 10:15 A.M.

The Rendsville 4-h club is looking for volunteers to weed/maintain/water the rain garden in Donnelly by the fire hall as they are unable to do it themselves due to COVID 19. Thanks to the members, advisors, and parents for all the hard work they have put into making Donnelly look beautiful this year

RUSC Kinship Golf FORE MENTORING August 11th starting at 4:30 P.M. at Pomme De golf club. Their annual quarter craze has been rescheduled for Sept.  19th at the legion in Morris more info call the office in Morris 585-7572

Jim and Lou Eystad have returned home to their house in Donnelly. Please call ahead if you would like to visit them.

Pr Mark Luther Johnson and family and I were among those who attended the west-central mn word Alone reunion in Starbuck on July 29th.

Past week: Rose city threshing show activities, Rose City, services at LWLC- Alex ; LL baseball game at wells; Republican get together with Michelle Fischbach at old #1, Morris, bible study and wed eve service at Gs, visit with Chuck Spohr at his home in Morris.

Weather News, we have had some very welcome rains in the past week. As a result, crops, especially corn, continue to look fantastic.
ST. John' s/Kongsvinger news: tentative schedule subject to change: On August 2nd drive-in for Christ service with Holly communion at Kongsvinger Aug 9th service of word and song at ST. John's no drive-in service. All services are at 9:30 A.M.,
A complete schedule for the rest of the summer is in the July newsletter. No other activities will take place in either church until further notice.

The West Central Word Alone group will have a reunion for former pastor leaders and members on Wednesday, July 29th, from 2–to-4 P.M. or later at the Starbuck Lakeshore Park. Meet at the shelter by the flag poles
In the event of inclement weather, it will be held the following day at the same time and place.

This year's Stevens swift relay for life on August 1st will be a virtual one-the Kongsivinger Krusaders are again participating in the Relay.
Margaret "Marg" Nelson, of Barrett, passed away July 17th, survivors include her son Steve (Sue Erdahl) of Donnelly and their family.
Ella Louise Holland was born on July 3rd at SCMC -in Morris to Tom and Alyssa Holland of Morris. Her grandparents include Joe and Linda Holland of Donnelly, her "twin" sister Emma Beth Erickson was born July 5th, also at SCMC to Chandler and Beth (Holland) Erickson. Her fraternal grandparents are Dean and Jerri Erickson of Chokio.
Open house bridal shower for Lauren Funk bride to be of Ryan Beyer will be held on August 1st from 11 A.M. -1 P.M. at  Ed and Carol Beyer home 20763 468th ave. Morris  Carol is a former Donnelly area resident.
Past week services at ST. John's Starbuck, ice cream social at Erickson Petting zoo Osakis, ll games eagles and wells, bible study and wed eve services at GS
Jim and Lou Eystad have returned home to their house in Donnelly. So I stopped in to see them for a few min Tue a.m., as most of you know he suffered a stroke last fall and has been recovering since then first at the WWV then at Legacy Living in Morris and now at home. Please call ahead if you would like to visit them. She told me that her brother John Ruff and some of his family were up here for a while. They have returned home to TX but hope to come back again later this year.
Jack and Joan Kopacek were among those who attended the VFW auxiliary meeting at the OLD #1 on July 21st
On July 20th Beckham Steve Backman was baptized at Good Shepherd. Lutheran Church

Weather News still hot & dry although we did get some rain on Sat. Thankfully we escaped the bad weather that stuck some parts of Grant & Otter Tail counties last wk. crops esp. corn continues to look very good so far

There will be an OPEN HOUSE bridal shower for Kayla Volker bride to be of Jed Lyle July 18th ten a.m.-noon eastside park Morris mn. Her parents are Kevin and the Late Nancy Volker of Herman formerly of Donnelly.

Weather News after some welcome rains last week, it has been hot and dry since.
Church news, some churches in the area are beginning to open up. GSLC -Morris has limited services inside Sundays at 9 a.m. and Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the church. The rest of the summer service schedule is TBA.
At 7 p.m. on Wednesdays, there is outdoor worship at Faith- Morris and on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. at first -Morris.

Former Donnelly resident Dorothy (Hilla) Eisel of Wasilla AK passed away on June 19th
Former Donnelly area resident Duane Solive of Cyrus passed away on May 26th.

Doris Sperr of Herman passed away on July 5th. Her late husband Irving was a former Donnelly area resident.

There will be a bridal shower for Lacee Maanum (Bride-to-Be of Riley Biesterfeld) on Saturday, July 11th from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.  If you are unable to attend, send your well wishes to Lacee at 302 E 2nd St Morris, MN 56267. The couple has registered at Target and Amazon. His parents are Walt and Kathi former Donnelly residents
Beckham Steve Backman was born on May 20th to Wade and Fallon Backman of Hancock. Grandparents include: Steve and Cathy Backman of Morris great grandparents include Liz Aschman of Morris formerly of Donnelly and Shirley Libbon of Chokio/Donnelly area.
Congrats to the Donnelly kids who made the 4th q honor roll at MAHS too numerous to list here see the list in paper

July 7th-14th
Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.
In the next few weeks, there will be several organizations with scheduled meetings (i.e., fire department, community club, etc. ); I have no idea if anything will go on as scheduled due to the COVID19, so please check before planning to attend anything.
Weather News after a hot weekend, we had some welcome rain early Mon a.m. Early wed brought some strong winds that did some damage in the Donnelly area. Crops continue to look good corn is knee-high plus
Church news, some churches in the area are beginning to open up. GSLC -Morris has limited services inside Sundays at 9 a.m. and Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the church. On Sundays morning until July 12th at 10:15 a.m., there will be a worship service outdoors; after that, they will switch to Wed. a.m. All three services will be the same. At 7 p.m. on Wednesdays, there is outdoor worship at Faith- Morris and on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. at first -Morris.

Ron Papesh of Glenwood passed away on June 24th. Survivors include his son Mark (Clara), and brother-in-law Wayne of Donnelly, his wife former Donnelly area resident Shaylyn (Jacobson) and their family,

Thanks to the city of Donnelly for the donation of folding chairs to the bee. The renovations in the hall look very nice from what I saw of them Mon eve.
