donnelly news

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.
Before you make plans to attend any meetings or scheduled events in the Donnelly area, please check with somebody to make sure they are still going to hold it.  
Weather News, we have had some very welcome rains in the past week. As a result, crops, especially corn, continue to look fantastic.
ST. John' s/Kongsvinger news: tentative schedule subject to change: On August 2nd drive-in for Christ service with Holly communion at Kongsvinger Aug 9th service of word and song at ST. John's no drive-in service. All services are at 9:30 A.M.,
A complete schedule for the rest of the summer is in the July newsletter. No other activities will take place in either church until further notice.
Rev. Rochelle Anderson of Morris will be providing pastoral care until further notice, if you need care, contact the parish office or one of the church presidents. You can also watch our "virtue" services on Facebook, and YouTube.
The parish office is closed due to the COVID 19 outbreak, call 246-3211, or e-mail (stjKongsvinger@runestone.net) or send mail (box 97) when assistance is needed.
No physical block party this year. We are having a virtual one instead and raising money for the Stevens county food shelf to be added to by grants from the Donnelly co-op and land o lakes foundation, deadline July 31st.
Other Church news, Faith-Morris now has outdoor worship Sun at 9 A.M. first-Morris at 9:30 A.M.
The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church schedule for the rest of summer is;
July 29th - Outdoor communion service with indoor Holden Service to follow - 7:00 P.M., August 2nd - Indoor Service - 9:00 A.M., August 5th - Indoor Service - 7:00 P.M., August 9th - Indoor Service - 9:00 A.M. August 9th - Drive-In Service - 10:15 A.M.
Please check with your local church for what their plans are. A reminder that you will find virtual services, devotions, etc. on fb, YouTube, local access channels, church websites, and the radio for many area churches.
The West Central Word Alone group will have a reunion for former pastor leaders and members on Wednesday, July 29th, from 2–to-4 P.M. or later at the Starbuck Lakeshore Park. Meet at the shelter by the flag poles
In the event of inclement weather, it will be held the following day at the same time and place.

The Rendsville 4-h club is looking for volunteers to weed/maintain/water the rain garden in Donnelly by the fire hall as they are unable to do it themselves due to COVID 19. Thanks to the members, advisors, and parents for all the hard work they have put into making Donnelly look beautiful this year
RUSC Kinship Golf FORE MENTORING August 11th starting at 4:30 P.M. at Pomme De golf club. Their annual quarter craze has been rescheduled for Sept.  19th at the legion in Morris more info call the office in Morris 585-7572
This year's Stevens swift relay for life on August 1st will be a virtual one-the Kongsivinger Krusaders are again participating in the Relay.
Margaret "Marg" Nelson, of Barrett, passed away July 17th, survivors include her son Steve (Sue Erdahl) of Donnelly and their family.
Ella Louise Holland was born on July 3rd at SCMC -in Morris to Tom and Alyssa Holland of Morris. Her grandparents include Joe and Linda Holland of Donnelly, her "twin" sister Emma Beth Erickson was born July 5th, also at SCMC to Chandler and Beth (Holland) Erickson. Her fraternal grandparents are Dean and Jerri Erickson of Chokio.
Open house bridal shower for Lauren Funk bride to be of Ryan Beyer will be held on August 1st from 11 A.M. -1 P.M. at  Ed and Carol Beyer home 20763 468th ave. Morris  Carol is a former Donnelly area resident.
Past week services at ST. John's Starbuck, ice cream social at Erickson Petting zoo Osakis, ll games eagles and wells, bible study and wed eve services at GS
Jim and Lou Eystad have returned home to their house in Donnelly. So I stopped in to see them for a few min Tue a.m., as most of you know he suffered a stroke last fall and has been recovering since then first at the WWV then at Legacy Living in Morris and now at home. Please call ahead if you would like to visit them. She told me that her brother John Ruff and some of his family were up here for a while. They have returned home to TX but hope to come back again later this year.
Jack and Joan Kopacek were among those who attended the VFW auxiliary meeting at the OLD #1 on July 21st
On July 20th Beckham Steve Backman was baptized at Good Shepherd. Lutheran Church
