donnelly news

June 2nd-9th
Welcome to the graduation edition of the Donnelly news.
Since everything from community events to church services has been postponed or canceled due to the Coronavirus, I have decided not to list any events for the foreseeable future. Before you plan to attend any events I have listed in my past columns or regularly scheduled events and/or meetings, please check to make sure they are still on. Since everything is constantly changing, please listen to local media and /or check fb posts for any updated info. Some of the meetings may be held virtually instead of physically like the last rendsville The 4-h club meeting was. Also, some Donnelly business may be temporally closed, have reduced hours, limited services, access, etc.
Weather News:  It looks like most of the farmers in the area took advantage of the mild weather we have had lately and have got most of their crops in, and many are already up. Some nice rain showers in the past week mean they have gotten off to a good start.
Until further notice, there will be no regular services and events at St. John's and Kongsvinger, Donnelly, Gslc, Morris, or any other church in the area. Some churches, pastors in the area are posting devotions, "services," etc. On places like Facebook, YouTube, the radio, etc. GSLC and Hosanna worship center are having a parking lot service every Sunday at 10 a.m. at their churches, and there is also a community service at the MAES parking lot at 9:30 a.m.  KMRS will broadcast that service. GSLC also has outdoor worship at the church at 6 p.m. on Wed. Eve.
ST. John's/Kongsvinger news: we have two HS and two higher Ed grads this year in our parish. Since we were unable to have a baccalaureate Sunday this year, you can send cards to them or leave them at the parish office. You can obtain info about the grads and their addresses in the May newsletter.
Rev Rochelle Anderson of Morris will be providing pastoral care until further notice, if you need care, contact the parish office. You can also watch our "virtue" services on YouTube.
The parish office is closed due to the COVID 19 outbreak, call 246-3211 or e-mail (stjKong@runestone.net) if you need assistance.
The year's annual rod and gun club's annual father's day fishing tournament is among the many events canceled already this year
No decision has been made about the fate of this year's threshing bee, yet if you wish to express your opinion on it, please contact one of the officers.
I have brought my news box back to McCollar's Jewelry, and I will hopefully be traveling up to Donnelly more frequently in the future to check my box in the PO.
The rendsville 4-h club is looking for volunteers to help weed maintain the rain garden in Donnelly by the fire hall as they are unable to do it themselves due to COVID 19.

On May 23rd, I spent several hours visiting cemeteries in the area and putting decorations on graves of family and friends. A sign you are getting older is that you remember many people buried there.

May 24th, I attended the parking lot service at MAES AND GSLC and, on the 28th, the outdoor service at GSLC.

May 25th I had an opportunity to visit with Pr Mike Nelson for a few minutes while attending his moving sale in Donnelly

Thanks to Bob Burner for this. After celebrating 100 years of doing business in 2019, the balance of the year was not a good year for the co-op. A very limited fall season of fertilizer and application reduced revenue resulting in negative earnings for the year. Due to COVID 19, there was no annual meeting in March; two new directors were to be elected, but with no voters, two new directors were appointed to replace David Larson and Chris Smith. At the next annual meeting in March of '21, a vote will take place for two new candidates Brad Searle and Mike Kill. The spring season of 2020, with an early start and increased productivity, has a good feeling for the New Year. Hopefully, we will see all of you at the next annual meeting in March of '21
Some members of the Rendsville 4-H took the time to spruce up the area around the community sign this week. Thank you.
Les Bruns of Barrett formerly of the Hoffman/Donnelly area passed away on May 17th
