Weather News: after some cold and snow temps have moderated some this week

Donnelly church news: joint services at 9:30 a.m. on the first 1st,3rd, and 5th Sundays at Kongsvinger, the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month at St John's followed by Sunday school and coffee fellowship.

Communion services are on the 1st and 4th Sundays of the month

Annual meetings are on January 19th (Kongsvinger) and 26th (ST. John’s) both following joint services about 10:30 a.m. and both will be followed by a potluck dinner

Broadcasts available for sponsorship in 2020 are 4/26 7/5 9/13 and12/13. To sponsor one contact the parish office.

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news. Merry Christmas to all my loyal readers out there

If you have news for me, the next couple of weeks try and get it to me A.SA.P. As I have some early deadlines.
Most Donnelly business will close early Christmas Eve and be closed all day on Christmas Day
Weather News: it was a bitterly cold weekend with -0 temp and strong winds. I was surprised to find an unpicked cornfield in my travels the last wk.
Donnelly church news: There will be joint services of carol and readings at 9:30 a.m. on December 29th (Kongsvinger) followed by coffee hr. No regular S.S. in December. The regular weekly schedule will resume in January.
Christmas Eve services on December 24th at 8 P.m. (St. John's) Christmas day 10 a.m. (Kongsvinger)
There will again be a poinsettia garden at both churches this year contact the parish office for more details
Due to the weather the December 1st  KCLW brunch was canceled, in its place, on December 29th, a mini brunch will be held in the church basement; there will be coffee and goodies served (no potluck )after services at 9:30 a.m.
Good Shepherd Lutheran church news: There will be Christmas Eve services at 5:00 p.m., Christmas day at 10:00 a.m.at the church

Sadie Jo Livengood was born on December 9th to Kody and Allishia Livengood of Morris. Grandparents are Russ Roske of Donnelly and John and H0lly Riley of Morris

Shirley Frank passed away on December 13th. The Frank family owned and ran the Gambles store in Donnelly for many years.

Santa stopped in Donnelly on December 14th, too cold for the reindeer, so the fire dept. gave him a ride into town. Thank you to the threshing bee Royalty for serving the delicious dinner prepared by community club members, and their families and later assisting Santa with his visit. The hall looked very festive thanks to their hard work and that of their families.

Former Donnelly resident Joe Wolking of Tulsa Oklahoma passed away on December 6th. His family owned/operated Wolking oil in Donnelly for many years, where the current co-op station is.

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.
Weather news: some colder weather and several inches of snow have marked the return of winter, so shovels, blowers, plows, etc. have had to come out of storage I see there are still a few cornfields left to be picked up near the Lien church near Barrett
Donnelly church news: The Sunday school program will be presented on December 15th during worship at Kongsvinger at 10:30 a.m. (note change of time for that Sunday only) and that afternoon at 5 p.m. at St. John's. There will be joint services at 9:30 a.m. on December 22nd (Kongsvinger) and 29th (St John's) No regular S.S. in December.

Roger Horning of Chokio passed away on December 1st survivors include his granddaughter Michelle (Adam) Speer of Donnelly and their family
Lou Eystad has moved into an apt at the Legacy Living in Morris; hopefully, Jim can join her there later.

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.
Weather news: slowly but surely most corn fields around here are getting harvested, I talked to a friend from up in the Fargo Morehead area Sunday, he said there are still some wheat fields up there that due to wet conditions have yet to be harvested. 
Donnelly church news: services will be at 9:30 a.m. on December 8th at St John's, followed by a coffee fellowship.
The Sunday school program will be presented on December 15th during worship at Kongsvinger at 10:30 a.m. (note change of time for that Sunday only) and that afternoon at 5 p.m. at St. John's. No regular S.S. in December
"Where's the beef dinner" raffle at St. John's is going on now tickets may be purchased from any St. John's member or at the parish office. The Drawing will be on December 8th during coffee hr.

Weather news: many farmers in the area took advantage of a relatively dry week to get a lot of corn picked. Most fields around here have been harvested, but up north by Elbow Lake still a lot to be picked yet. A lot of fall tillage going on too

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news. I am dedicating this week's column to the memory of my mom's sister Mabel Van Olst who passed away on November 18th, 2002.
A week of sunny, dry weather has enabled most farmers in the area to make good progress in getting the crops harvested. Most of the bean harvest in the area is done, and they are working on getting the corn picked.

Brylee Dee Michaelson was born September 26th, 2019, at Douglas County Hospital, Alexandria, MN, to Michael and Jade Michaelson. Brylee weighed 5 lbs. 11 oz. and was 18 1/2 inches long. Grandparents are Tim and Jeannie Michaelson of Morris, MN, and Dan and Tammy Bruna of Brookings, SD.

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news. This issue is dedicated to the memory of my dad Emil Anderson who passed away October 31st 2005
 A few days of sunshine last week allowed farmers to get some more crops harvested but this week has started out cold wet and rainy
In the news from the ST. John's/ Kongsvinger Parish: joint services at 9:30 a.m. on the first 1st,3rd, and 5th Sundays at Kongsvinger the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month at St John's followed by Sunday school and coffee fellowship. Communion services are on the 1st and 4th Sundays of the month. No Sunday school November 3rd and 10th. The Parish trunk and treat event will be held on October 31st on the west side of ST. John's starting at 5 p.m.
There will be a special congregational meeting following the 9:30 a.m. services at Kongsvinger on November 3rd to authorize repairs on the church and parish hall roofs that were damaged in the hail storm last summer.

The Annual Donnelly Halloween party will be held at the community hall on October 31st, starting at 5 p.m.
There will be a Scandinavian heritage festival at first Lutheran Morris on November 6th, starting at 3:30 p.m.
Federated church trunk or treat on October 31st, 5–7 p.m.
The following events will take place at Neimackl Lake Park: the Haunted woods trail of terror on October 25th, starting at dusk -9 p.m. and the family fun festival October 26th at the park about halfway between Donnelly and Herman.

Cold rain/snow made for kind of a miserable weekend. This week started out sunny, but the past few days have cloudy and cold. Harvest has come to a halt for the time being.
In the news from the S.T. John's/ Kongsvinger Parish: joint services at 9:30 a.m. on the first 1st,3rd, and 5th Sundays at Kongsvinger the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month at St John's followed by Sunday school and coffee fellowship. Communion services are on the 1st and 4th Sundays of the month. No Sunday school November 3rd & 10th.Sunday school Halloween event on October 27th during services and S.S. parish trunk & treat event on Oct 31st west side of S.T. John's
A special congregational meeting will be held following the 9:30 a.m. services on November 3rd. The purpose of the meeting is to authorize repairs on the church and parish hall roofs that were damaged in the hail storm last summer.

Donnelly community club had their monthly mtg on October 14th, after the meeting we enjoyed coffee & cake in honor of Corrine Kruize's birthday. Figures from the bee show we had a fair year despite the rain. Next year's show is August 29th & 30th feature is ford and massy Ferguson
Former Donnelly area resident Sharon (Wente) Smith of Barhamsville, Virginia, passed away on October 3rd Local survivors include her sister sandy (Les) Kopel of Donnelly and her mother Norma Wente of Morris. There will be a private family service and burial at Summit Cemetery in Morris, MN, at a later date.
Bob Trost of Fergus passed away on October 13th local survivors include his brother in law Wally (Peggy) Horning of the Chokio/Donnelly area.

The weather has been sunny & mild this wk. hopefully dry things up enough for farmers to get some harvest done seen some bean and corn have been picked as well as some sugar beets.

John's/ Kongsvinger Parish: joint services at 9:30 a.m. on the first 1st,3rd, and 5th Sundays at Kongsvinger the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month at St John's followed by Sunday school and coffee fellowship. Communion will be held on the 1st and 4th Sundays of the month. Oct 20th is Gideon Sunday, but there will be no Sunday school that Sunday. On October 6th at 1st Morris, the guests will be Michael and Carmen Zoughbi from the Holy Land. Michael will preach in worship, and present our Adult Forum that day on their lives as Palestinian Christians living in Bethlehem and Jerusalem.

Weather news we had some rain in Dalton on Saturday and on Sunday in Morris and Tuesday a.m. en-route to Fargo and more rain as I am writing this on Thursday a.m.
In ST. John's/ Kongsvinger news: Joint services at 9:30 a.m. on the 1st, 3rd, 5th Sundays of the month at Kongsvinger, 2nd, 4th Sundays at ST. John's followed by Sunday School and coffee fellowship. Holy Communion is on the 1st and 4th Sundays of the month.  
The threshing bee royalty was in parades in Dalton (regular and machinery) on Sept. 7 and Prairie Pioneer Days in Morris on Sept. 8

On September 23 the bookmobile will be in town on main st from 2:45-3 p.m. note new time
The Donnelly community club had their post bee meeting on September 9th. Despite the rain, on Sunday we had a good year selling about 900 buttons. Next year’s show is August 29, and 30th, features will be Ford and Massy Ferguson

GSLC news: Connie Lee in concert for the eagle's nest September 14th at 7 p.m. A special congregational meeting will be held on September 8th to consider changes to the constitution
Septemberfest at Assumption Morris on September 15th starting with mass at 10 a.m. and continuing with many activities the rest of the day
Despite the rain, on Sunday we managed to get all the day's events in at the Bee. Thanks, everyone for coming and participating. Next year's dates are August 29th and 30th the feature is Ford and Massy. Tousen Takk to the community club for the toy steam engine I won at the Bee.

In ST. John's/ Kongsvinger news: The parish will be leading the services under the big top tent on August 25th at 9 a.m. with Tom & Pearl Horning leading the music and Dick Cady as lector There will be no services at either church that day; the regular schedule resumes on September 1st
GSLC news: On August 28th at 7 p.m. the summer service series will conclude with Pr AJ Kluver as guest preacher. On August 25th, after the 9 a.m. services and a potluck dinner, Gladys Mungo from Haiti's children will give a presentation about her work in Haiti, She will also be collecting supplies for the children. The 54th annual Donnelly threshing bee starts today (Sat) and concludes tomorrow (Sun) lots of activities both days. The theme this year is 54 years of hometown fun. Next year's dates are August 29th and 30th the feature is Ford and Massy Ferguson. The fireman's water fights being held today (Sat) at 1 p.m. in front of the fire hall on Main St.is, not on the poster. If you need info during the show stop into the depot and talk whoever is behind the desk the # is 320-246-3272. I do plan to have my cart on the grounds for anybody that needs a ride. Also, RTA is providing free Wi-Fi service on the grounds again this yr. The Rendsville 4-h club will be the grand marshals this year
There will also be non-bee events during the weekend at the The place to be in Donnelly. I know of at least one rummage sale in town too.

Work night on the bee grounds August 27th (takedown, put away, etc.) at 6:30 p.m. any help during or after the bee is much appreciated.
Kathy Eystad informs me she is looking for pictures of farmsteads' for display in the schoolhouse this year. If you have one, please get in touch with her at 246-3262 or bring them to the schoolhouse during the weekend

GSLC news: Summer services continue to be held every Wednesday at 7 p.m. Pr Mike Hanson will be preaching on August 21st.  Gladys Mungo from Haiti's children will be at Gs August 25th to give a presentation about her work in Haiti after a pot luck dinner. She will also be collecting supplies for the children. Weather News:  When I was in the Alex /Glenwood area on Sunday, they had some heavy rains. However, when I got home, it looked like we hardly had had any rain. The crops and gardens in the Donnelly area seem to have recovered somewhat from the hailstorm last week. A friend told me that just about every house in Donnelly would need to have new shingles put on their roof.

On 7/25 at Pomme De Park in Morris Hannah McNally and Jeremy Michaelson were married. Her mother is Audrey Larson, grandparents Don and Algene Larson, and great-great-grandmother Bertha Larson. Former Donnelly area resident Capt. Gerald Loher lll has returned home from overseas duty.

July 27th-Aug. 2nd
Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news
Weather news:  as most of you have read /heard there was a hail storm in the Donnelly area on July 19. Fortunately, from what I have heard and seen, there was no significant damage from the storm, mostly leaves knocked of trees. I saw some fields had some damage, understand some car windows got broken, etc. Crops continue to look very good especially the corn; vegetables I have seen on display at the fairs are small yet.
ST. John's/ Kongsvinger news: joint services at 9:30 a.m. on 1st, 3rd, 5th Sundays of the month at Kongsvinger, 2nd, 4th Sunday at ST. John's followed by a coffee hour at both churches. Communion service 1st and 4th Sundays
The parish is again coordinating the annual block party on July 30 at St John's from 5–7 p.m., free-will offering for the food shelf
Luther crest VBS will be held on July 29th-August 1st at Faith Morris starting at 9 a.m. cosponsored by the parish, Faith and First Morris and Trinity Cyrus. Contact the church office for more info.
There will be lawn chair worship at faith –Morris on July 28 at 9 a.m.

Olivia Kay Morris-Durkee was born June 27, 2019, at Stevens Community Medical Center to Kasey Morris and Justin Durkee of Morris, MN. Olivia weighed 7 lbs.12 oz. and was 20 inches long. Grandparents are Jamie Morris of Winona, MN and Vicky Squier and Bruce Beyer of Morris/Donnelly. Great-grandparents are Marty Morris of Sunlakes, AZ, Edgar Evenson of Peterson, MN and Richard and Rose Squier of Morris, MN.

Open house a bridal shower for Jenna Niemann, bride-to-be of Justin Stallman of Donnelly, will be held today (Saturday,) from 1-3 p.m. at the Kongsvinger Parish Hall. Everyone is welcome. Justin and Jenna's marriage will take place at Kongsvinger on August 17th, 2019 His parents are Jeff and Marylinn (Mau) of Donnelly 
Janet Hacker of Morris passed away on July 9th survivors include her daughter in law Kay (Anderson) (Eugene) of Hancock Kay is a former Donnelly area resident
Luke Christians of Herman passed away on July 5th survivors include his aunt Brenda (Jeff) Volker of Morris formerly of Donnelly & their family
The Threshing bee Royalty was in the Hancock and Starbuck parades on July 4th and 6th 
The Donnelly community club had their monthly meeting on July 8th as we continue preparations for the bee on August 24th and 25th the posters and buttons are here I have a few of each, if you want one, otherwise contact Corrine Kruize 246-3337 to get either or both. The buttons will be on sale soon in the area. We have four young ladies running for queen and 2 for little Miss this year. The toy tractor raffles this year are mini-steam engines, you can purchase a raffle ticket for them for $2 at the bee. Bob Burner, the co-op manager informed us at the community club meeting that Cenex had a contest for managers to talk about their town. One of the winners chosen was Donnelly; he said what wowed the judges was the fact we had a two-day celebration put on by all volunteers.
Herman Red Hats will meet Friday, July 19th at 11:00 a.m. at the Grant County Fair 4 H food stand for Lunch.

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news

Weather news:  Crops are looking good thanks to some sunny warm weather along with a few showers during the past week. Understand gardens are doing well too, although a friend said that she doubted she would have much garden produce to show at some of the local fairs later this month

The Kongsvinger Krusaders are participating in the Relay for Life at the Lee Center in Morris again this year, on July 12th, starting at 5 P.m. with a meal followed by opening ceremonies at 6 P.m.

On June 15th at west Pomme de Terre Lodge Kourtney Giese and Gabel Hoseth were married her parents are Brad and Kristi Geise formerly of the Herman/Donnelly area   
On June 29th  in ND Jana Loher and Nolan Peirce were married; her parents are Jody, Jerry Loher, grandmother, is Bertha Larson, all except Nolan are former Donnelly area residents   
This year, nominations and elections for Stevens County FSA board will be held in local administrative area LAA 3, which includes Donnelly, Rendsville, Swan Lake, Framnas and Hodges Townships. Contact the Morris FSA for more info.

Weather news: it has been mostly sunny and mild during the past week a few showers have been just what the doctor ordered, for the crops. Many farmers are busy spraying, putting up hay, etc.

Charlotte Kaleah Ehli was born June 13th, 2019, at Stevens Community Medical Center to Matthew and JoDee Ehli of Donnelly, MN. She was welcomed home by big sister, Hadley. Charlotte weighed 8 lbs. and was 20 inches long Grandparents are John and JoAnn Klosowski of Cokato, MN and Terry and Stacy Ehli of Wheaton, MN. Great-grandparents are Bill and Betty Clark of Amery, WI, Audrey Slapnicher of Wheaton, MN and Pat Ehli of Bismarck, ND.
Kongsvinger KLCW is hosting a wedding card shower in honor of former Donnelly area resident Jana Loher, daughter of Jody (Larson) Loher, Gerald Loher. Her grandmother is Bertha Larson.
