Feb 2nd-9th

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.

Weather News: after spending much of the week getting dugout, we had some snow and blowing and drifting on sat which meant another round of dig-outs this week. Temps have not been too bad.

St, John's/Kongsvinger news: services are now being held indoors again with some restrictions in place. If you do not wish to go inside, you may remain in your car and listen in on your car radio. Services are at 9:30 a.m., on the 1st, 3rd, 5th Sun at Kongsvinger, the 2nd and 4th Sun at St, John's. Communion is on the 1st and 4th Sun of the month. The Parish office remains closed; call or e-mail if you need assistance. For the time being, Rev. Rochelle Anderson is providing pastoral care. Please contact a council president if you need pastoral care or call her at 320-287-2663.  At Kong at 10:30 a.m., in the parish hall, there is now full-fledged ss. Please check with somebody about the status of other events in the parish, i.e., "ladies aid."

Kongsvinger annual meeting is on Feb. 7th, following services at about 10:30 a.m.

Gslc news: there will only be one service at 9 a.m., followed by s.s.  Randy Freud will be at GS on Feb. 7th to preach and lead adult Ed about missions. Special thanks to Fred & Gloria Kill estate for their very generous gift to the church. 

Since things are in a state of flux, please check with your local church for their latest update on service times and details, and other events. Also, remember that there are services, devotionals, etc., available on FB, YouTube, church websites, local access channels, radio, etc.

Donnelly fire Department meets on the 2nd and 3rd Monday of the month at 7 p.m. at the fire hall. City council on the 1st sat of the month at 4 p.m. at city hall, Rendsville 4-h on the first Mon of the month at 6:30 p.m. at St John's. Note these are scheduled meetings and subject to change, and I assume restrictions, i.e., masks, social distancing, etc. Some, i.e., 4-H, may be done by Zoom.

Donnelly has a new postmistress she is from the Cyrus area.

Death notices: Roberta Reynolds of Cyrus passed away on Jan. 21st survivors include her daughter Kim bill Bouressa of Cyrus and Tamara (Robert) Bisgard of Donnelly and their families; Bill is a former Donnelly resident.

I had a phone call asking who got elected to office in Donnelly in Nov., re-elected as the mayor .wa Dae Ennen, Jacob Eystad, and Mike Schmidt to the council.

Correction: Lee Swanson of Benson passed away on Jan. 13th survivors include his great-nephew Craig (Amy Huebner) Swanson of Morris and their family. Amy is a former Donnelly resident.

Donnelly rod & gun club's annual ice fishing contest is tentatively scheduled for Jan 16th, starting at 10 a.m. on Perkins Lake north of Morris. Even if the tournament does not happen, they will still be a drawing for raffle tickets; please mail everything into PO box 197 more info, call 287-1039 or 287-2070

Death notices: Dagny Schwendemann of Starbuck passed away on Jan 12th survivors include her brother Andy Brevig of Starbuck, formerly of the Herman/Donnelly area, and his family.

Past week:   I drove around to see some Christmas decorations; one of my favorites was Bryon Gilbertson's home near Herman, New Year's Eve services at St. John's, Morris; worship services at ST. John Starbuck. Afterward, I had a nice visit with Pr Norm & Mrs. Olson.
