Weather news: some mild temps during the week has meant that most of the snow we got has melted
St John’s/Kongsvinger news: ST John’s WELCA Feb 3rd at 1:30 p.m. KCLW Feb 5th at 11: 00 a.m. adopted grandparent event on Feb 8th at 9:45 a.m. at Kong.

Good shepherd news: No bible study on Feb 3rd
Other church news: the glacial ridge elca conference assembly will be held on Feb. 8th at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran –Alberta
Community news: Kristan Hawkins will give a lecture on February 3 at 7 p.m. in SCI 2950 on the UMM campus. (Between the east and west wings of the science building) The topic will be "The Ugly Truth about Abortion: How it does more than just kill babies." Celebrations: Tiger gymnastics :  Big Stone Lake  meet Savannah Aanerud 1st Place on Vault, 1st Place on Bars, 1st Place on Beam, 1st Place on Floor, 1st Place in All-Around; Katie Giese tied for fourth on the vault and took third place with her stuck beam routine. In JV action Katie took fourth on the bars and third on the floor Shannon Kill Tied for 1st Place on Vault. Benson/KMS meet: Savannah Aanerud 5th Place on Vault, 2nd Place on Bars, 1st Place on Beam, Tied for 1st Place on Floor, Took 2nd Place in All-Around, JV meet Shannon Kill Tied for 5th Place on Vault regular duo meet season is now done for them
New members of the National Honor society include: Riley Biesterfeld, Brady Jergenson, Becca Holland, and Britany cardwell,
 Gage Backman of Donnelly earned high honors (4.0 gr avg.) at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall
Tiger wrestling: West Central conference meet (4th place); Jacob Speer (3rd place) 220 lbs.
Death notice Ron Carlson of Donnelly passed away on January 26th in Tx.as of this writing arrangements are pending with the Pedersen funeral home in Morris
Past week I attended the indoor car sale at heartland motors, annual meeting and dinner at Kongsvinger and “burgers and blessings” at the Met Lounge
It seems like every few days I wind up at McCollar Jewelry where we usually wind up talking about plans for the MHS class of ’55 60th class reunion (my mom taught some of the classmates in Donnelly) so I have learned a lot of class history such as the fact he was on the first Tiger basketball team that went to the state tournament. He says he has tentative confirmation from about a dozen of them that are planning on coming. We are looking for pictures for the reunion if you have some or know of somebody that does, send them to McCollar Jewelry 618 Atlantic Ave. Morris MN 56267 or e-mail them to me at aeanders@fedtel.net. 
Shannon Smith of St Petersburg FL spent some during the Christmas holiday season visiting her parents Gary and Pat Smith and other friends and family members in the area. Janice Halverson spent some time over the past weekend visiting her mother Bertha Larson and other family members in the area.

Welcome to another addition of the Donnelly news.
Weather news: the weather has been fairly mild during the past week some snow this week meant that snow removal equipment got a good work out again. Some freezing rain made for some very icy roadways on Sat. Highway 9 between Donnelly and Herman was closed for a while on Sat. due to an overturned cattle truck.
St John’s/Kongsvinger news: Kongsvinger’s annual meeting will be on Jan 25th at noon followed by a potluck dinner
Good shepherd news: none

Death notices: LouAnn Moen, Glenwood, passed away on Jan 14th survivors include her sister Judy (Glen) Heinrichs and their family of the Morris/ Donnelly area
Jim and Lou Eystad attended Ruby Olson's funeral at the Pedersen funeral home on Jan. 12th
Past week I attended visitation for Rita Mulcahy, at the Pedersen funeral home; memorial service for Evelyn Underwood at Kongsvinger, the f.i.r.s.t. robotics fundraiser at Morris area elementary school, the Good Shepherd annual meeting, the habit for humanity fundraiser at the Legion, the twins winter caravan at Morris area elementary school music auditorium, the community meal at Faith Lutheran and the Stevens county republican party executive council meeting. It was announced that the county convention will be held on Feb 20th at the legion.  Several members of the college republicans from umm were on hand and announced plans for some upcoming events next month. I also visited Cal and Jan Bumgardner at their home, and my aunt Pearl A. Anderson at the west central homes
Jan 21st I attended “burgers and a blessing” at the diamond supper club where I had an opportunity to visit a little with the new interim pastor at First Lutheran-Morris Pr. Don Berheim. He lives on a farm between Benson and Starbuck.

Welcome to another addition of the Donnelly news.
Weather news: it has been a very cold week with -0 temps and strong winds making for some dangerous wind chills but temps are forecast to moderate later this week.
St John’s/Kongsvinger news: St. John’s annual meeting will be Jan 18th at noon followed by a potluck dinner. Service times will switch on that day with Kongsvinger at 8:30 a.m. and St J at 11 a.m. Kongsvinger’s annual meeting will be on Jan 25th at noon followed by a potluck dinner
Plans are underway to once again utilize the shuffle board courts at St John’s by playing Sunday mornings about 9:45 A.M.
There are 3 radio broadcast scheduled for this year that need sponsorship contact the parish office for more details
Good shepherd news: the annual meeting will be on Jan 18th following worship services followed by a potluck dinner
The Jan newsletter for all 3 churches is now out extra copies are available in the back of all of them.
Stevens county Habit for humanity will have their annual pancake breakfast at the legion in Morris on Jan 18th from 8 am-12:30 pm free will offering
Community news: on Jan. 19th the bookmobile will be in town at 3:30 pm on main st at HD & co and the fireman will meet at the fire hall at 7 p.m.
Bar bingo starts on Jan. 16th at 7p.m. at “The Place to Be” in Donnelly to benefit the fire department
Donnelly rod & gun club is having their annual ice fishing contest today (Sat.) on Pome De Terre (Perkins) lake (public access) starting at 9 am
There will be an open house baby shower for Addison Lockrem (Tracey Kopel) at the Hedi Asmus home 8 riverside rd. in Morris from 3-5 pm on Jan 18th
Celebrations: MAHACA wrestling: Paynesville invite Jacob Speer 4th at 220#
Tiger gymnastics vs. big stones lake area meet Savannah Aanerud 3rd Place on Vault, 1st Place on Bars, 1st Place on Beam, 1st Place on Floor, 1st Place in All-Around; Jv action Katie Giese 1st Place on Beam, 3rd Place on Floor also 4th on the vault in varsity action; Moorhead meet: tigers took first in their division Savannah Aanerud took third overall. She took fourth on the vault, second on the bars, and tied for second with her floor routine.  Kourtney Geise is out for the season with an injury
Death notices: former Donnelly resident Evelyn Underwood passed away on Jan 9th her memorial services is at 10:30 am today (Sat.) at Kongsvinger Lutheran church rural Donnelly. As many of you know, she and her husband Bill worked in the Donnelly bank for many years.
Marion Sax of Hancock, passed away Jan 9th survivors include her stepsons’ former Donnelly area residents Wally, Curtis, Bob Jr. and the family of the late Donald (Tubby) Sax
Update on the community mentoring program that Jeanne Ennen started last spring. They now have a name RUSC Kinship (Raising Up Stevens County through mentoring) and board members including Matt Flogstad and Algene Larson from the Donnelly area
During coffee hour at Good Shepherd on Jan 11th we congratulated Jim and Lou Eystad on the occasion of their 61st wedding anniversary. 
Congratulations also go out to former Donnelly area residents Ken and Irene Van Horn who recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.
On Jan 7th I helped out with NAPS at the sr. center in Morris and on the 14th attended “burgers and a blessing” at the met lounge, due to the cold weather and car trouble have not been out and about too much in the past few weeks except to stop in to see Wally McCollar and talk about his 60th class reunion this summer.

If you are going to put news for me in one of my Donnelly “mailboxes” please do so by noon Mon, although I usually check them late Tue a.m. ;on occasion I do check them Mon aft or evening if I am in Donnelly for a meeting or something else. If you are going to send it via other means (e-mail, phone calls, Facebook private message etc.), or put it in the McCollar jewelry “mailbox”, please do so by Tue evening, as that is when I usually do the most work on my column, however I can accept news until my deadline to submit the column which is 3 p.m. Thursday. I try my best to keep up with things like births ,deaths, weddings, other celebrations etc. ,but I do miss some on occasion so fell free to fill me in I miss something, while I have lived  here all my life I do not know everybody ,esp. some of the younger kids.
