Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news. I want to wish everyone a Happy New year and say Tusen Takk for your loyal support during the past year.

Thank you to Santa's helper for the fruit basket I got for Christmas Eve. & the KCLW for the gift card I got from them

Weather news, well, we had a white Christmas; after all, it stormed here most of Wed only a few inches of snow, but visibility was not very good. We got a couple more inches on Dec. 27th

St, John's/Kongsvinger news: services are now being held indoors again with some restrictions in place. If you do not wish to go inside, you may remain in your car and listen in on your car radio. Services are at 9:30 a.m., on the 1st, 3rd, 5th Sun at Kongsvinger, the 2nd and 4th Sun at St, John's. Communion is on the 1st and 4th Sun of the month. The Parish office remains closed; call or e-mail if you need assistance. For the time being, Rev. Rochelle Anderson is providing pastoral care. Please contact a council president if you need pastoral care or call her at 320-287-2663. Please contact somebody on the status of S.S. or other events before planning to attend any events in the parish.

Several dates are available for 2021 to sponsor a KMRS broadcast; please contact the parish office if you wish to do so.

Gslc news: no morning bible study again until Jan 12th.

Since things are in a state of flux, please check with your local church for their latest update on service times and details and other events. Also, remember that there are services, devotionals, etc., available on fb, YouTube, church websites, local access channels, radio, etc.

Donnelly fire Department meets on the 2nd and 3rd Monday of the month at 7 p.m. at the fire hall. City council on the 1st sat of the month at 4 p.m. at city hall, Rendsville 4-h on the first Mon of the month at 6:30 p.m. at St John's. Note these are scheduled meetings and subject to change. Some, i.e., 4-H, may be done by Zoom.

Bookmobile is offering limited services along its route; contact them for specifics.

Death notices: Leroy (Butch) Brandt of Morris passed away on Dec. 24th. He & his family used to come up to Donnelly & pitch horseshoe at the Bee for many years.

Madison Grace Morrison of Sioux Falls s.d. PASSED away on Dec. 23rd.  She was preceded in death by her great-great-grandmother former Donnelly area resident Millie LeSage.

Courtney Lehman was named honorable mention on the KMRS/KKOK/SCT all-area team

Weather news, well, it does not appear we will have a white Christmas this yr. Temps are forecast to be relatively mild this week. However, they are now forecasting snow for later this week

Services are at 9:30 a.m., on the 1st, 3rd, 5th Sun at Kongsvinger, the 2nd 4th Sun at St, John’s. Communion is on the 1st and 4th Sun of the month. The Parish office remains closed; call or e-mail if you need assistance. For the time being, Rev. Rochelle Anderson is providing pastoral care. Please contact a council president if you need pastoral care or call her at 320-287-2663. Please contact somebody on the status of S.S. or other events before planning to attend any events in the parish.

A live-streamed event will replace the public living Nativity at Faith-Morris also no live services at first Lutheran or Federated church this year.

Death notices: former Donnelly area resident Pearl Struck of Buffalo mn passed away on December 16th survivors include her granddaughter Tanya (Gulbrandson) (Ryan)Kellen of Norcross, formerly of the Donnelly area & her family

Mike Amborn of Belfair Wash passed away on December 15th .survivors include his sister Betty (Paul) Sperr of Morris, formerly of Donnelly, and their family.

Former Donnelly area resident Lloyd Bendt passed away on December 13th in Salome, AZ.

There are no services scheduled.

 

 

I have an early deadline this week, today (Tuesday) at 2 p.m., back to normal next week.

Death notices. Jerry Sullivan of Morris passed away on December 13th survivors include his brother John and Tom of Morris. They own the old blacksmith shop and the Catholic Church in Donnelly.

Former Donnelly area resident Dorothy (Erdahl) Perry of Minneapolis, daughter of the late Henry and Doris Erdahl of Donnelly, passed away on December 8th.  Survivors include her aunt, former Donnelly area resident Bernice Erdahl of Morris, and her family.  Due to Covid 19, her service and committal was a private family one.

 

Former Donnelly resident Diane Frank Mitchell of the Minneapolis area passed away recently. Her parents were the late Clearance and Myrtle Frank. For many years they owned and operated the Donnelly hardware store.

Congrats to Courtney Lehman, a Tiger volleyball athlete of the week, Isabel Fynboh, the same in cross country

 Congrats to the Rendsville 4-h club that recently received an award for having 100% of their members turning in their records

Services are at 9:30 a.m., on the 1st, 3rd, 5th Sun at Kongsvinger, the 2nd 4th Sun at St, John’s. Communion is on the 1st & 4th Sun of the month.  There will be a drive-thru live Nativity on December 19th from 2 - 5 at the Stevens County Fairgrounds.

Death notices:  Glenn George Matejka of Alexandria, formerly of the Donnelly area, passed away on December 1st; survivors include his sister Lou Kopel of Donnelly and her family.

Dorothy (Erdahl) Perry passed away recently.. Her parents were the late Henry & Doris Erdahl of Donnelly. Survivors include her aunt, former Donnelly area resident Bernice Erdahl & her family of Morris.  I am told she lived in the cities and arrangements are still pending

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news

Happy Thanksgiving!! Tusen takk to all my readers out there who have helped make my column the success it is. Special thanks to my fill-in writer last week, Nancy Olson. I was in the hospital, so unable to do it.

Weather news after a mild sunny weekend it has turned more fall-like this week. Most farmers in the area have completed their fieldwork for the year.

Stj/Kong news services are now being held indoors again with some restrictions in place. If you do not wish to go inside, you may remain in your car and listen in on your car radio. Services are at 9:30 a.m., on the 1st, 3rd, 5th Sun at Kong, the 2nd 4th Sun at Stj. Communion is on the 1st & 4th Sun of the month. Christmas trees are in the back of each church for the annual HAT AND MITTEN TREE / TOYS FOR TOTS program, where you may drop off your donations. We are collecting scarves, hats, mittens, socks, and Christmas gift items, including books, blankets, games, colors/markers, activity/coloring books, cars, dolls, etc.) The deadline to participate in this program will be Tuesday, Dec 15th. All the items collected will be distributed locally. Thank you for making Christmas a little brighter for others

 

At our Thanksgiving Eve worship, our parish welcomed Owen James Sayles, son of Alissa and Kirby Sayles as the newest member of God's family at Kongsvinger Audray & Nancy Henrichs are the great grandparents.

Kong. Christmas card club is now open until Dec. 20th donations will go to Lu Minn, .mail your donations to the parish office or drop them off there, hat mitten toys for tots collection is underway trees located in the back of the church` if you wish to purchase a poinsettia for the church gardens contact the parish office for details 246-3211
