Weather news: it has been sunny and mild most of the week, although as I am writing this Wednesday it has been raining most of the day, farmers are busy making up for lost time in getting crops in

St. John’s Kongsvinger news: On May 21st, the graduates from our parish will be recognized during a brunch at Kongsvinger at 10 a.m. and at services at 11 a.m.

The summer schedule starts May 28th with joint services at St.  John’s at 10 a.m. continues on May 31st at 7 p.m. at Kongsvinger, June 4th at Kongsvinger.  A complete schedule can be found in the May newsletter, copies are available at both churches, the po in Donnelly, or from the parish office

GSLC news: Wednesday evening services start on June 7th at 7 p.m.

Community news:  On May 22nd the Bookmobile will be in Donnelly on Main St from 3:45-4 p.m.,

Herman Red Hats meet June 5th, at 9 a.m. at AJ's. Please bring photo of your dad 

RUSC Kinship Growing Kids and Kinship Garden Gala and patio dedication will be held at the Pomme de Park on June 8th from 5-7:30 p.m.
The Stevens county genealogical society will meet the Morris museum June 1st at 1:30 pm note change of location from previous meetings. More info 585-6435

Death notices: committal services for former Donnelly area resident Marylin Hagen of California, will be held on June 13th at 11 a.m. at the Kongsvinger Lutheran cemetery of rural Donnelly

Former Donnelly area resident Joann (Frank) Christianson of Lakeville passed away on May 13th, her funeral is at 1 pm on May 22nd at Grace Lutheran Church in Apple Valley, MN.

May 13th-19th
Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news, I want to wish my mom a happy mother’s day in heaven

Weather news: as they say in Minnesota if you do not like the weather, wait it will change been true in the last week as we went from snow on May 1st to 80 degrees a few days later. Needless to say farmers are very busy in the fields making up for lost time getting their crops in.
St. John’s Kongsvinger news: youth club will meet on May 17th St. John's at 4 p.m.
The graduates from our parish will be recognized during a brunch at Kongsvinger at 10 a.m. and at services at 11 a.m. on May 21st; anyone in the parish who has a graduate this year please let the parish office ASAP so they can be recognized then.

Community news: The Rockin C ranch of rural Donnelly will have a special promotion on May 14th, all mothers get in free

Death notices: Marie Elizabeth Kne of Brainerd passed away on May 5th. Survivors include her daughter Sue (Rev. Mike) Nelson of Donnelly.
Former Donnelly area resident Keith Henrichs of Milaca passed away on May 4th. He was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Shirley Heinrich of Donnelly
Former Donnelly resident Jim Weinreis of Morris passed away on May 8th his memorial service is May 19th at the West Wind Village
A daughter Phebe Joy, was born to Jessica Bergstrom of Donnelly and Joe Oelke on May 3rd, her grandmother is Becky Bergstrom of Donnelly, her great grandmother is Irene strand of Morris

The Donnelly community club had another lengthy meeting on May 8th as we continue to make plans for the bee and other events reminder the bee is Aug. 26 and 27th this year’s feature is Allis Chalmers

May 6th-12th
Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news,

Weather news: Although we have had a few nice days in the past week, it has mainly been cold & wet with some rain and even snow on Monday a.m. It sounds like a broken record but I still have yet to see any evidence of widespread field work anywhere I have traveled
St. John’s Kongsvinger news: Baccalaureate Sunday is May 21st anyone in the parish who has a graduate this year please let the parish office ASAP so they can be recognized then
The S.S. kids will be singing during services at ST. John’s at 8:30 a.m., Sunday School will be held at 9:45 a.m. at ST. John’s note change of location

GSLC News: There will be a vote on May 7th to add a steeple to the church, Weekly bible study has resumed every Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the church. The church is looking for part-time secretary contact the church at 585-6868 for more information
Other church news:  Southwest MN Women of the ELCA will meet today (Saturday) at Gloria Die Lutheran church Redwood Falls starting with registration at 8 a.m.

Community news: The Rockin C ranch of rural Donnelly will open up again on May 7th and be open every Sunday through October. Special promotion on May 14, all mothers get in free

On May 8th the Bookmobile will be in Donnelly on Main St from 3:45-4 p.m., the community club will meet at the community hall and the firemen will meet at the fire hall at 7 P.M.
The city council will meet today (Saturday) at 4 p.m. at city hall-Donnelly
Wags whiskers and wine sponsored by the Stevens County Humane society today (Saturday) at Old #1 Southside starting with social hour at 6 p.m.
Death notices: Betty Elkhart of Calif. Passed away on May 1, 2017, survivors include her brother Jim (Lou) Eystad of Donnelly
Donnelly area resident Steve Fults died on May 3rd, his funeral is Mon a.m. at Assumption Morris
Congratulations to Andy Brevig on receiving a lifetime achievement award from the 7th district Republican Party for his outstanding work as a member of the Stevens County Republican Party.
Savannah Aanerud First place in Discussion meet in Extemporaneous speaking at the State FFA Convention

Zachary Dennis Kieffer was born on April 24, 2017 at Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris to Beth and Josh Kieffer of Morris.  Zachary weighed 6 pounds 9.2 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long. Grandparents are Dennis Kieffer and Bev Clausen-Kieffer from Alexandria and Jeff and Cindy Gulbrandson from Hoffman.  Great-grandparents are Gerry Pashen of Morris, Jim and Pat Lachowitzer of Battle Lake, and Arlene Gulbrandson of Herman/Donnelly area
Tiger trapshooting: reserve week: Brady Cardwell led the boy’s side with 48 targets He also led after week 1, scoring a 44 total
April. 28th I met Pr Aj Kluver from Lwlc-Alex in Glenwood; from there we traveled to Christ the King Lutheran church in Hutchinson for the Augustana District (LCMC) convention. We stayed overnight and attended the “Destination Reformation” event at ST. John’s Lutheran church in Howard Lake. (Rev Angel Scott our former intern pastor at Good shepherd is youth director there) we returned home late Saturday eve.
On April 30th I visited with two former Donnelly area residents Ruth Stand and Marge Sherstad in Alexandria
When I was at the convention in Hutchinson I visited a little with Rev. Paulus Pilgrim, his grandfather Rev Gustav Pilgrim was pastor at St. J Donnelly and other churches in the area for 40 years.

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news,
Weather news: a nice weekend has given way to a cold and rainy week so far have not seen any evidence of widespread field work, saw North Dakota had some snow over the weekend and we may get some this weekend too.

Women’s book club will meet on May 1 at 1:30 P.M. at Jeanne Ennen’s home note change of date
Gslc news: there will be a special meeting on April 30th to discuss options for adding a steeple to the church the vote will be on May 7th

National day of prayer activities will be held at Morris Evangelical Free Church on May 4th with the church open from 6 A.M. to 6 P.M. for individual prayer and a worship service at 6 P.M.
Community events: There will be an open house bridal shower at the Kongsvinger parish hall for Crystal Henrichs bride to be of Brad Searle today (Saturday) from 10 a.m.-noon her parents are Rollie and Deb, his parents are Lowell and Janet Searle grandmother is Agnes

As many of you heard my aunt Pearl A. Anderson fell in her apartment last wk. and spend a couple days in the hospital thankfully she did not break any bones and came home last Friday, I visited her last Saturday she is doing ok.

Brooke Gillespie made the senior honor roll at Chokio-Alberta H.S. She was also part of Tiger softball team that finished 2nd in its own tournament on April 22nd

St. John’s Kongsvinger news: St. John’s spring fling is today (Saturday) from 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m., cradle roll sun and adopted grandparent Sunday is on April 23rd during Sunday school
Gslc news: deadline to return the options for women fundraiser baby bottles is April 23rd
Other church news: Burgers, Blessings and Beverages will return on April 26th at 7 p.m. at the Met Lounge
Glacial ridge conference of the WELCA will meet on April 24th at Glenwood Lutheran-Glenwood starting with registration at 4 p.m.
SW MN women of the ELCA will meet on May 6th at Gloria Die Lutheran church Redwood Falls starting with registration at 8 a.m.
The ABC sale at Zion-Morris is April 27th 3-6 p.m. and April 28th 2-5 p.m.

Weather news: other than some light rain sun and cool temperatures on Sunday most of rest of week has been mostly sunny and nice. Saw one farmer in the field on my way to Hoffman last week heard there was some work going on south of Morris on Highway 59
St. John’s Kongsvinger news:  Easter Sunday (April 16th) services at St. John’s at 8:30 a.m.; Kongsvinger at 11 a.m.; no Sunday school

Stevens County’s habit for humanity pork chop supper will be held at the Morris legion starting at 4:30 p.m. on April 20th  Free will offering
The annual Mitchell Kleindl Memorial Archery shoot, will be held at Neimackl Park on April 22nd and 23rd starting at 8 am both days. The park is about halfway between Donnelly and Herman
Death notices: Howard Norman of Alex passed away on April 2nd survivors include his wife former Donnelly area resident Joan Kopel of Alex


Islande Speer was part of the Morris Junior Olympic volley ball team that won the championship at SW Minn. State in Marshal.
Girls track: LPV meet :the 4x100 relay,4x200 relay 4x400 relay team all took first, the 4x800 relay team took 2nd,100 m dash Islande Speer 100 M (3rd) ,Savannah Aanerud 400 m (5th ) 800 m (4th )triple jump (5th ); boys Brady cardwell 100 m (12th )200 m (6th) discus (9th) Micah Aanerud 400 m (12th)  the boys and girls both won the Morris met on April 1th I will have individual results next week
Donnelly community club held their monthly mtg on April 10th at the community hall. Discussion was held on future years, features, upcoming events i.e. ice cream social, etc. We are always looking for ides and/or suggestion for the bee and/or other events. A reminder that this year’s bee is Aug. 26th and 27th and the feature is Allis

Weather news: There have been some fairly nice temps here the past week, have not seen any sign of fieldwork yet. When I was on the farm I knew when spring fieldwork started by the steady stream of Donnelly co-op vehicles going by my place but no more
St. John’s Kongsvinger news:  Holy week services: Palm Sunday (April 9th) joint services at Kongsvinger at 11 a.m. with Sunday school kids singing (services will also be broadcast on the radio at 11 am in memory of Ervin & Leana Smith by Gary & Pat Smith and family.)Maundy Thursday (April 13th) supper/ services at Kongsvinger at 6 p.m. Good Friday (April 14th) pancake supper at 6 p.m.at ST. John’s, services at 7 p.m. at St John's Easter Sunday (April 16th) services at St. John’s at 8:30 a.m.; Kongsvinger at 11 a.m. ;no Sunday school

the Freddy’s force benefit at Faith on March 18th served about 900 people and raised about $40,000, and, the donkey ball game on March 13th raised about $4,000.
Death notices: Former Donnelly/Herman area resident Darrell Gulbrandson of Alexandra passed away on March 30th his funeral is today (Saturday) at 1 p.m. at the Hoffman community center. 

Former Donnelly area resident Les Nelson passed away on April 4th his service is today (Saturday) at Faith Lutheran Morris. Survivors include his nephew Steve (Sue) Nelson of Donnelly, sister former Donnelly area resident Agnes Searle of Morris

Islande Speer was part of the Morris Junior Olympic volley ball team that won the championship in a tournament at UMM on Sunday

Savanah Aanerud is one of the captains of the Tigers girls track team and Dakota Lupke is one of the captains of the boy’s team.  They opened the season at the Marv Meyer invitational at UMM both the boys and girls placed first in the meet. Savannah placed 2nd in the 400 meter dash. Islande Speer was part of the 4x100 relay team that finished 1st. In the boys Levin Strand was part of 4x200 m relay team that took first, was part of the 4 x 100 m team that finished 2nd

Wyatt Verle Busse was born on March 29, 2017 at Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris, to Maggie Wiener and Tyler Busse of Appleton. Grandparents are Al and Jane Wiener of Sauk Centre and Jim and Julie Busse of Appleton.  Great-grandparents are Ray and Joyce Citterman of Ivanhoe, Della Dunn of Donnelly and late Verle & Helen Dunn of Donnelly

Past week: seminar and sale at the Wulf farm, Hancock, John Inman funeral at WWV, meatball supper at Peace Lutheran Barrett, afterwards visited Iver Aal at the Barret Care center, helped with naps at sr. center, Lenten services at Gs.
